História
Estudou na Academia Real de Artes Dramáticas (Rada, sigla em inglês). Ganhou fama ao interpretar um advogado iniciante e avoado na famosa série de comédia dramática ''This Life'', da BBC, exibida no Brasil. Depois deste sucesso participou de vários filmes e séries da televisão, entre eles ''Os Gângsteres/Gangster No. 1'', ao lado de Malcolm McDowell. O ano de 2001 marcou o começo do trabalho de Lincoln por três anos na comédia dramática ''Teachers'', que mais tarde ele mesmo dirigiu e pela qual foi indicado aos prêmios Bafta, também exibida no Brasil.
Em 2003 integrou o elenco da comédia romântica de Richard Curtis ''Simplesmente Amor/Love Actually''. Ao longo da carreira interpretou vários papéis de sucesso no teatro, sendo o mais recente o mulherengo Dale em ''Parlour Song'', de Jez Butterworth e o amplamente elogiado ''Blue/Orange''
Em 10 de Junho de 2006, Lincoln se casou com Gael Anderson, filha do vocalista Ian Anderson, da banda Jethro Tull. Eles têm dois filhos.
Em 2010, junto com Vanessa Paradis, fez ''Como Arrasar um Coração /Heartbreaker'', a refilmagem do filme francês'' L’Arnacoeu''r.
Hoje é claro o ator britânico é muito mais conhecido por seu papel de Rick Grimes (personagem principal), na já clássica série de TV ''The Walking Dead''.
Em 2014, foi eleito o Favorite TV Anti-Hero,pelo ''People's Choice Awards, USA''; e em 2015, ele foi eleito o melhor ator em uma série de televisão pela ''Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA''.
