O Pastor e o Guerrilheiro is a Brazilian feature film inspired by a true story, which takes place in the 1960s and 1970s and at the turn of the millennium - in the last days of 1999.

Это фильм о жизни Луиса Гамы, одного из важнейших лиц бразильской истории - темнокожего мужчины, спасшего в суде более 500 человек, находившихся в рабстве. Гама родился свободным человеком, однако в возрасте 10ти лет был продан в рабство в качестве выплаты долгов своего отца. Даже будучи рабом, он всё равно научился читать и писать, а затем получил свободу и стал одним из самых уважаемых юристов своего времени.

Roberto and Mitsuo return to Brazil on the same day, after a long season living abroad. Their lives intersect because of land negotiated by their parents in the past. Without money, the two see on the ground a possibility of getting financially right. However, some events make them believe the terrain is magical. Like a fable, the film shows us that in order to obtain some desires, it is necessary to give up others.

Graça is a single mother who works as a massage therapist and lives with her two children: Moreno, 8, and Papoula, 15. One day, in a visit to the doctor, Graça is diagnosed with a brain aneurism that may rupture at any moment. Desperate about who will take care of her kids in the event of her death, she decides to go after her brother, Luiz Carlos, whom she hasn't seen in over 15 years due to a quarrel. When they meet, however, Luiz Carlos has become Gloria, a beautiful and successful transvestite, who now owns a restaurant and brags about being independent. At first, Gloria is unwilling to reconnect with her family; but as she becomes more guilt-stricken, she accepts Graça's invitation to meet her nephews and eventually realizes that maybe, to be complete, she needs to become a mother.
