Born in 1927 in Sonchon, modern day North Korea. She graduated from an all female high school in 1947. Moon started her career as a theater actor. She debuted her film career in the movie 악야, "The Evil Night, directed in 1952 by Shin Sang-ok.

Farewell My Darling
When old Mr. Park dies, his first son Chan-Wu, a film director, and his troublesome daughter Mi-Seon hurriedly come back to their rural hometown, and third son Chan-Se comes back to Korea from America. As the quiet country village gets busy preparing funeral, the house in mourning becomes a meeting place where villagers gather to ask how they are getting along and meet old friends. Legend of Ssarigol
During the Korean War (1950~1953) Second Lieutenant Kim asks an old citizen Gang of Ssarigol village to hide seven stranglers of his unit, and then he leaves to follow his ranks. An armed force official from the North side, who used to be a farm servant of the town, enters the town with armed forces and threatens the town members to hand the hidden soldiers of the South side over to them. The seven South Korean soldiers cannot but to start a combat with the North Korean soldiers. By the time, Second Lieutenant Kim's unit arrives at the town to help them to defeat the enemy.
