Sinopsis
U.S. Marshals "Nevada" Jack McKenzie and "Sandy" Hopkins go undercover to bust a gang of stagecoach robbers in this vintage Western serial. Nevada infiltrates the gang, while Sandy works as a cobbler in town, keeping an ear open for local gossip as they try to flush out the inside man tipping off the crooks.
Dos cazadores de asesinos, rivales entre sí al principio, acaban por unirse para conseguir una misma presa, "El Indio", un peligroso y sanguinario bandido por el que se ofrece la más alta recompensa conocida. El sheriff Chance (John Wayne) encarcela por asesinato al hermano de un poderoso terrateniente cuyos hombres intentarán liberarlo. Para impedirlo, Chance cuenta con la colaboración de dos ayudantes: un alcohólico (Dean Martin) y un viejo tullido (Walter Brennan), a los que se une un joven y hábil pistolero llamado Colorado (Ricky Nelson). Todos quedarán encerrados en la cárcel de la oficina del sheriff, roedados, incrementándose la tensión en el pueblo a la espera de que llegue la autoridad estatal para llevarse al detenido.
A Wyatt Earp (Henry Fonda), antiguo sheriff de Dodge City, le ofrecen el puesto de comisario de la ciudad de Tombstone, pero lo rechaza porque le interesa más el negocio ganadero al que se dedica con sus hermanos. Sin embargo, cuando uno de ellos muere asesinado, acepta el puesto vacante y nombra ayudantes a sus hermanos. Contará también con la amistad y la colaboración de un jugador y pistolero llamado Doc Holliday (Victor Mature).
La ciudad de Kansas está sin sheriff y la sequía del verano está haciendo la vida imposible a los granjeros. In Old Wyoming, a gang is plundering stagecoaches of shipped currency and a crusading newspaper editor is trying to get the local marshal replaced, because of his apparent failure to catch the gang, which seems to disappear into thin air after every robbery. The situation escalates when one of the stage drivers is mortally wounded; so the marshal sends for his friends, the Range Busters, to help him catch the criminals. Meanwhile, even the marshal's fiancee, the editor's daughter, turns against him in favor of an aggressive agitator for law and order - who secretly is leading the robber gang.
