Famous organist Anton Phibes is horribly disfigured in an automobile accident while rushing to the side of his sick wife and presumed to be dead. Once Phibes learns that his wife died on the operating table, he is convinced the doctors are responsible and begins exacting his revenge on all those involved.

The wife of an alcoholic and mother of four (Toula Stathopoulou) is a factory worker in Corfu at the beginning of the 20th century. A fallen noble man who has fallen on hard times (Stratis Tsopanellis) wants to marry her eldest daughter (Anny Loulou) and take advantage of the family's meager earnings. He kidnaps the not-unwilling girl, and argues with her mother about the dowry. But the girl refuses to marry him when she wakes up to the fact that he is only looking out for his own interests. Thomas is a good but low intelligence man. He is in love with Urania, a widow, whose stingy husband Sotiris is over a year dead, as the ship he was sailing in, sunk. When Sotiris appears, explaining that he was hiding so as to get the life insurance money. Urania, who already has a love affair, convinces Thomas to murder him, pretending she is in love with him. Thomas indeed tries unsuccessfully. Everything is revealed when Sotiris discovers that the insurance money have been stolen and appears screaming during his memorial service. A trial ensues, where Thomas admits that he is not only an imbecile but 'an imbecile and a half'.

The late Pericles gets permission from God to return to earth and help his family, who has gone astray after his death. Invisible to all but present everywhere, he is able to eavesdrop on what's going on: his youngest daughter lives it up with some Teddy boys, his eldest do not intend to marry her fiancé, his son has become a crook, and his wife a gambler.
