The young man, originally a Jew, is deeply burdened by the consequences of war, in which he had lost his loved ones. He is considering himself mandatory to take revenge to former commander of the concentration camp where his family was killed, and who returns from prison after serving the minimum sentence. Coincidentally, planned revenge takes a different turn.
TVの人気天気予報キャスター、フィルは地方で開かれる伝統的祭りを女性プロデューサーのリタと取材。その町では毎年2月2日、冬眠から目覚めたウッドチャックが春の到来を占うという祭りが開かれていた。その帰路、吹雪に襲われた一行は町に引き返すが翌朝、フィルはなぜか同じ祭りと出くわす。その日から彼は2月2日を繰り返し過ごす。毎日これから何が起きるかを知っているフィルは、それを自分のために悪用しようとする。
自動車修理工場で働く寡黙な男性“ドライバー”は、映像業界でカースタントマンをする一方、強盗の逃走を手伝う“逃がし屋”の仕事もしている。ある日から彼は、同じアパートで暮らして幼い息子を育てる人妻アイリーンと距離を縮めるように。彼女の夫スタンダードは刑務所を出所するが、多額の借金を背負わされた彼は、強盗の仕事を強要される。“ドライバー”はアイリーンとその息子のため、強盗計画の“逃がし屋”を引き受ける。
世界最大の検索エンジンを運営するブルーブック社のプログラマーである青年ケイレブは試験の結果、社長ネイサンが隠遁生活を送る山荘で1週間滞在することに。人里離れた土地にある山荘はネイサンが人工知能を研究している施設で、ケイレブは人工知能の実用性と人間性についてのテストに協力させられる。そこで人工知能を持つ女性型ロボットのエヴァと出会うが、エヴァはネイサンが嘘つきなので気を付けろとケイレブに警告する。
