昭和40年代の浅草。大学を中退後、たけし(柳楽優弥)は「ストリップとお笑いの殿堂」と言われる浅草フランス座に転がり込み、「幻の浅草芸人」と呼ばれていた深見千三郎(大泉洋)に弟子入りする。東八郎や萩本欽一など、お茶の間を席巻していた大人気芸人を育てた深見の下で、たけしは大成することを目指し笑いの修行に勤しんでいた。しかしテレビが普及するにつれ、演芸場の客入りは減る一方だった。
