旅回りの駒十郎一座の乗った船が港に着いた。駒十郎は一膳飯屋にお芳を訪ね、その昔二人がもうけた清も今では郵便局に勤めていると知って安心する。清には駒十郎はお芳の兄ということになっていた。駒十郎の連れ合いのすみ子は、清のことを不審に思い加代に清を誘惑してくれるよう頼む。加代と清は恋仲になり、それを知った駒十郎は加代とすみ子を激しく叱りつける。客入りの悪くなった一座は解散することになり、駒十郎と清は加代を巡って対立する。お芳は清に駒十郎が実の父親だと打ち明けるが、清は許さず、駒十郎は気が抜けたように立ち去る。駅に行くとすみ子が待っていて、二人は車中の人となるのだった。

会田時彦は化粧製造販売会社の女社長小村女史に多くの就職希望者の中から採用された。復員者の彼は一番待っていてくれる愛子の所へ報らせたが、何故か彼女は喜ばなかった。愛子には会田時彦と愛を誓ってはみたものの、彼の留守中に彼女の心はみたされず、別の愛人が出来てしまったのである。時彦はこれを知って彼等達の幸福を願って身を引いたが、自分のためには幸福ではなかった。毎晩カフェーを飲み歩き、満足に会社にも出勤しなかった。またカフェーの百合、君子達は時彦をお互いに独占しようとしたが、時彦は相手にはしなかった。丁度その頃、小村社長の姪にあたる、小村輝美が化粧品の製造部に勤務していた。彼女は何くれとなく時彦をなぐさめてくれる。承知しないのが百合、君子達である。しかし輝美も彼女達と協定を結んで彼を独占しなかった。だがいつの間にか仕事を毎日一緒にしていると、友情はやがて愛情に変わり、愛情が真の恋愛に進んでいた。小村女社長は彼を採用した時から、「出雲の神様」であった。もちろん、百合、君子達も反対はしなかった。二人が結ばれたことは皆の幸福でもあった。
