江戸時代末期、アメリカから駿河の国の小藩に流れ着いた黒人3人が、音楽好きの大名と出会い、城中でジャムセッションを繰り広げる姿を描く奇想天外なコメディ。筒井康隆の同名短編を「近頃なぜかチャールストン」の岡本喜八監督が映画化。故郷アフリカへ帰るはずが、メキシコ商人に騙されて香港行きの船に乗せられた黒人4人組。ある日、病気で死んだ一人を残し、大嵐の中ボートで脱出を図った3人は駿河湾の庵原藩に助けられる。音楽好きの藩主は彼らの演奏するジャズの虜となり……。

Isozoemon (Go Kato) was a ronin (masterless samurai) and broke, who lived in a Choya (cheap apartment) in Okazakijoka town with his sick wife, Sugie (Ai Kanzaki). He was also a good swordsman who had taught swordsmanship in Akita a long time ago. He takes such good care of his wife that he is called a wife-loving man. He got involved in a conflict for succession because he pretended to become an officer to please her wife.

寛永の時代のある夜、島原の乱で殉死したはずの天草四郎が再び命を取り戻す。彼は自分と同じように不本意な死に追いやられた人々を集め、時の将軍家綱に復讐を開始するが、彼ら魔界衆の前に柳生十兵衛が敢然と立ちふさがった。

A young queen requests a bouquet of snowdrop flowers for New Year's Day in exchange for a reward. One greedy woman sends her stepdaughter, whom she does not like, to look for the flowers in a cold forest, knowing the task will be impossible for her. The girl almost freezes to death in the forest, but she is rescued by the spirits of the Twelve Months, who create spring around her. The girl is able to deliver the bouquet to the queen, but others want a share of the reward.

山口県の萩にある旧家の唐沢家には、麗子、紀子、恵子の美人三姉妹がいた。ある日、ボブという青年がアメリカから日本文化を研究するために来日、唐沢家に滞在することに。次女の紀子には婚約者の藤村がいたのだが、彼は3年前に忽然と姿を消してしまった。ボブの研究は、三女の恵子が手伝うことになる。そんな中、藤村が突然戻ってきて、紀子たちは結婚することに。ところが、紀子が藤村の本に挟まれていた3通の封筒を発見した様子を、ボブと恵子は見てしまう。手紙は、藤村の妹・智子に宛てられたものであったのだが…。
