프랑스 낭트의 항구, 카바레 댄서인 롤라는 7년 전에 떠난 연인 미셸을 기다리며 아들 이본을 키우고 있다. 그녀는 어린 시절 친구인 롤랑과 미국인 해병 프랭키의 구애를 받지만 미셸에 대한 변함없는 사랑으로 그들을 거부한다.
