시놉시스
법대 졸업생 김영수(문성근)는 수배를 받고 있는 인물이다. 그는 평화시장 청계 피복노조의 한 노동자였던 전태일(홍경인)의 분신자살사건 이후 그의 삶에 대해 관심을 갖는다. 전태일의 어머니를 찾아가 그의 일기장을 받아오고, 그를 알던 사람들의 증언을 취재하며 그 노동자의 불꽃 같았던 짧은 삶과 죽음울 되살려 내려고 애쓴다. 그 작업은 암울한 시대상황에서 김영수에게 삶의 의미를 주는 유일한 일이다. 그러나 한 노동자의 투쟁이 역사와 가까워질수록 죽음이라는 결단을 요구받았던 것처럼 김영수의 개인적인 삶도 자기희생의 통과제의를 거쳐야만 한다는 생각에 이르게 되는데...
다큐멘터리 감독이자 저널리스트인 마이클 무어가 '감량 경영(Downsize This!)'이란 책을 출간한 후, 이 책이 베스트셀러를 기록하자 출판사와 대형서점의 요청으로 미국의 도시를 순회하며 강연을 시작한다. 그러면서 해당 도시에 있는 대기업 본사를 방문하고, 지역 노동자들을 만나보는 등의 그의 행적을 기록한 다큐멘터리이다.
어느 날 밤 이비라는 소녀가 위험에 처하자 어디선가 한 남자가 나타나 놀라운 전투력으로 그녀의 목숨을 구해준다. 옛날 국회의사당을 폭파하려다 사형당한 가이 포크스의 가면을 쓰고 모든 것을 압도하는 카리스마를 가진 남자는 V라는 이니셜로만 알려진 의문의 사나이. 맥베스와 헨리 5세의 대사들을 인용하고, 현실세계의 아픔을 노래한 윌리엄 블레이크의 시를 읊으며 악을 응징하는 V는세상을 구할 혁명을 계획하고 있다. V의 숨겨진 과거를 알아가는 동안 자신에 관한 진실을 깨달아가는 이비는 점점 V에게 이끌려 그의 혁명에 동참하게 된다.
영국에 유학해 변호사 자격을 딴 간디(벤 킹슬리)는 1893년 남아프리카에 가 소송사건을 맡는다. 간디는 그 곳에서 유색인종에 대한 차별대우를 받게 된다. 이를 계기로 그는 남아프리카의 인도 거류민을 돕기 위한 다양한 활동을 시작한다. 이후 1915년, 간디는 인도로 돌아와 인도독립을 위한 노력을 하게 된다. 그는 비폭력운동을 주도하면서 수차례 투옥되기도 한다. 인도는 마침내 1947년 8월 영국으로부터 독립을 이룬다. 그러나 힌두교와 이슬람교의 종교적 대립으로 인해 인도와 파키스탄으로 나뉘어 독립을 하게 된다. 이후에도 종교분쟁을 해결하기 위해 노력했던 간디는 1948년 1월 과격파 힌두교도가 쏜 총탄에 암살당한다.

A month after the Wall Street occupation, a number of protesters follow their example and set up their tents in front of the Ljubljana stock market. The protesters are united in the critique of representative democracy and global financial capitalism under the slogan ‘nobody represents us’. Their organisation is based on the principles of direct democracy. In absence of other social alternatives, a community starts to emerge in the camp in front of the stock market where everyone has an equal say, and everyone is united in their diversity. After the initial euphoria the great idea of direct democracy clashes against the contemporary individual; antagonisms surface, similar to those of the system which the protesters fight against. The story about the Slovenian version of the ‘occupy’ movement is portrayed with the stories of a few protagonists, who despite several defeats do not lose hope in a different world.
