런던 근교. 엉성한 발명품만 만들어내는 발명가 월레스는 생활비를 충당하기 위해 창문닦이 서비스를 하고 있다. 월레스의 영리하고 충직한 애견 그로밋은 전자공학에서 도스토예프스키까지 읽는 식견 높은 개다. 그로밋의 생일을 맞자 월레스는 전자바지를 선물한다. 첨단 공법으로 만든 전자바지는 그로밋의 산책은 물론 무슨 일이든 척척 해내는 만능바지. 그러나 이 선물 제작에 많은 돈을 쓴 나머지 생활비가 부족하자 하숙을 놓게 된다. 광고를 보고 세를 든 동거인은 야비한 성격의 수배범 펭귄 맥그로우. 자신의 위치를 빼앗긴 그로밋은 가출을 하기에 이르는데...

신문을 읽고 있던 그로밋은 월레스에게 신문을 보여주면서 걱정한다. 신문마다 양털이 부족한 사태로 떠들썩하고, 한편으론 양들이 계속 어디론가 실종되는 사건이 벌어지고 있는 것. 한편 그 즈음 부업으로 창문닦이 서비스를 하고 있던 월레스와 그로밋은 털실가게를 운영하는 웬돌린이라는 여인으로부터 가게의 쇼윈도우를 닦아달라는 요청을 받게 되고, 월레스는 웬돌린에게 한눈에 반해 버린다. 그리고 그녀의 반려견 프레스톤은 꺼림칙하게 둘을 바라본다. 그러던 어느 날 이상한 양 한 마리가 집에 찾아오는데...

월레스와 그로밋은 최고의 빵집이라는 가게를 시작하고, 매일 아침 맛있는 빵을 구워 여기저기 배달을 한다. 어느 날 배달 도중에 자전거 브레이크가 고장나 위기에 처한 여인 파이엘라 베이크웰을 구해주게 된 월레스. 그녀는 그 사건 이후로 월레스와 친하게 지내다가 점점 사랑이 싹트게 된다. 그로밋 또한 그녀의 애완견인 플러플과 묘한 감정이 싹튼다. 한편 마을에서는 빵집 주인만을 노린 연쇄살인이 벌어지지만, 당사자인 월레스는 파이엘라 에 푹 빠진 나머지 전혀 상관하지 않는다. 과연 그로밋은 월레스가 다음 희생양이 되기 전에 연쇄살인범의 정체를 밝혀낼 수 있을까?

1년에 한 번 할로윈 축제를 위해서 사는 할로윈 마을의 리더인 잭은 해골 귀신이다. 여느 때와 마찬가지로 할로윈을 준비해야 하는 잭은 반복되는 일상에 염증을 느낀다. 어느 날 잭은 우연히 할로윈 마을을 벗어나 크리스마스 마을에 도착한다. 할로윈 마을과는 판이하게 다른 크리스마스 마을을 보고 잭은 할로윈 마을에서 크리스마스 축제를 맡기로 한다. 잭과 그의 일당은 산타를 납치하고 산타 대신 해골이나 거미, 뱀 등을 크리스마스 선물로 준비해서 아이들에게 나누어주지만, 크리스마스의 들뜬 기분은 사라지고 온통 소동만 일어나는데...

바닷가 작은 마을에서 엄마, 아빠와 행복하게 살고 있던 어린 소년 제임스. 아빠는 제임스의 생일날 곧 이사가게 될 뉴욕의 사진을 보여주며 행복해한다. 그러나 제임스의 부모는 동물원을 탈출한 코뿔소에게 사고를 당하고, 졸지에 고아가 된 제임스는 이모들에게 맡겨진다. 제임스의 이모 스파이커와 스폰지는 신데렐라의 계모를 능가할 정도의 고약한 심술꾼들. 이모들은 어린 제임스에게 힘든 집안 청소에서부터 온갖 잡일을 시키며 제임스를 괴롭힌다. 이모들의 학대에 힘들고 외로운 나날을 보내던 제임스는 어려울 때마다 아빠가 남겨준 뉴욕 여행 책자를 보면서 꿈과 희망을 잃지 않는다. 그러던 어느날 제임스는 정원에서 마법사 아저씨를 만나게 되고 마법사는 신비한 마법의 약을 건네며 약을 먹으면 신비한 일이 일어날 것이라고 말하고 사라진다. 마법의 약을 받고 놀래서 급하게 뛰어가던 제임스는 그만 넘어지고, 마법의 약은 죽은 복숭아 나무 아래에 쏟아진다. 그런데 마법의 약이 쏟아진 뒤 죽은 복숭아 나무에는 열매가 열리고 집보다 더 큰 거대한 복숭아 나무가 된다. 제임스는 다행히 마법의 약을 담았던 봉투에서 마지막 남은 한 알을 먹게 되고, 거대한 복숭아 안으로 들어가게 되는데.... 복숭아 안으로 들어간 제임스는 그곳에서 베짱이 할아버지, 지네 아저씨, 지렁이 아저씨, 무당벌레 아줌마, 반딧불 부인, 거미 누나를 만나 친구가 된다. 그리고 곤충 친구들과 함께 복숭아를 타고 바다 건너 꿈의 도시 뉴욕에 가기 위한 모험을 시작하는데.

마이클 잭슨의 실황 공연 장면과 잭슨이 주인공으로 등장하는 환상적인 이야기들로 구성된 작품이다. 이 영화에는 마이클의 삶과 어린아이들이 '배드'를 부르는 패러디비디오의 몽타주 장면, 환상 장면에서 팬들에게 쫓기는 마이클의 모습과 함께 '맨 인 더 미러', '스무드 크리미널'과 '컴 투게더' 뮤직비디오가 포함되어 있다. 이 영화속의 영화에서 마이클은 미스터 빅이 연기하는 마약 밀매상에게 쫓기는 한편 세 어린이들을 구하는 역을 연기한다. 특히 중간중간 삽입되는 특수 효과와 C.G는 이 영화의 비주얼적인 측면을 한층 돋보이게 한다.

신바드(커윈 매튜 분)는 그의 약혼녀인 퍼리사 공주(캐스린 그랜트 분)가 소인이 되어 버리자 그게 나쁜 마법사 소쿠라(토린 샛처 분)의 짓인지도 모른 채 그 마법을 풀 수 있는 약을 찾기 위해 소쿠라와 함께 그의 7번째 항해를 떠난다. 소쿠라 마법사의 말에 따르면 콜로사섬에 있는 대괴조(로크 새)의 알로 만든 약으로 공주를 정상으로 되돌릴 수 있다는 것이다. 하지만 사실 소쿠라는 콜로사 섬에서 발견했던 보물을 찾기 위한 속셈으로 섬으로 돌아가려는 것이었고 나머지 사람들은 그런 그의 계획에 이용당한다. 섬에 도착한 신바드 일행. 그들을 반기는 것은 온갖어려움들이다. 먼저 그들이 상대해야 하는 상대는 사이클롭스(키클롭스, 외눈박이 괴물). 사이클롭스는 소쿠라가 탐내는 보석을 갖고 있다. 신바드는 사이클롭스의 보석 창고에서 요술 램프를 갖고 나오고 신바드는 그제서야 소쿠라의 정체를 의심하기 시작한다. 하지만 소쿠라와의 마찰에도 불구하고 공주가 걸린 마법 때문에 소쿠라와 헤어지지 못하는 신바드는 램프를 갖고 계속 소쿠라와 대치 상태에 이르고 결국 꼬마 지니(리처드 아이어 분)의 도움을 받아 대괴조, 용, 해골과의 결투도 무사히 이기고 소쿠라도 굴복시키는데...

리처드 애덤스가 쓴 동명의 소설을 영화화한 애니메이션이다. 작가는 이 소설을 자신의 딸들과 함께 읽기 위해서 썼다고 하지만 소설이 담고 있는 내용은 단지 어린 아이들이 읽고 이해하기에는 조금 난해하고 어둡다. 소설은 토끼라는 동물을 등장시켜 자유의 소중함을 일깨우는 일종의 우화다. 영화 역시 소설이 담고 있는 내용을 충실하게 스크린으로 옮겼다.

Internationally renowned Dutch filmmaker Joris Ivens, in Australia as Film Commissioner for the Netherlands East Indies government in exile, resigned his position in protest against Dutch policy, which sought to re-impose its colonial rule. In collaboration with Indonesian activists, Chinese, Indian and Australian trade unionists, and local artists and filmmakers, Ivens made Indonesia Calling, a film documenting the crucial role of Australian trade union support in the establishment of the new Republic of Indonesia. Ivens’ film was an activist documentary; it actively contributed to the events it depicted. All those who worked on it became ‘adversely known’ to the security services.

The film begins with an Earth space craft stumbling upon a movie floating in the vast nothingness. The film turns out to be from planet Zog and when people see it, they are shocked and angered by the Zogs (or is it 'Zogians' or 'Zogites'?). It seems that they have their genitals where our heads are and vice-versa. To make things really weird, they eat and drink with their genitals and defecate with their faces.

Lye edited together “swing” versions of the popular Lambeth Walk (including Django Reinhardt on guitar and Stephane Grapelli on violin), combining them with a particularly diverse range of direct film images, scratched as well as painted. He was particularly pleased with a final guitar solo (with a vibrating horizontal line) and double bass solo (with a stomping vertical line). For this film Lye did not have to include any advertising slogans; friends at the Tourist and Industrial Development Association, shocked to learn that Lye and his family had become destitute, arranged for TIDA to sponsor the film – to the horror of government bureaucrats who could not understand why a popular dance was being treated as a tourist attraction. - Harvard Film Archive

A delicate stroll through the Russian wilderness at different times of the year.

The film is an artistically spare depiction of the Greek myth of Sisyphus, sentenced to eternally roll a stone up a mountain. The story is presented in a single, unbroken shot, consisting of a dynamic line drawing of Sisyphus, the stone, and the mountainside.

In a cafe, people talk, their words become expresively-shaped balloons. An older waiter tries to connect with a young woman who's reading. She brushes him off, but gets into an animated and romantic conversation with a young man. A dog goes from table to table drinking beer and wine when people aren't looking. Older men talk about sexual conquests until one of their wives interrupts them. The young couple argues; he starts to leave, she pleads, he leaves anyway. The waiter tries to help. Old guys talk until they nod off. Women chat. Later, as the waiter cleans up, the finds the young woman's book. He sighs, the dog sleeps it off.

I evoke a dancing woman. A woman? No. A bouncing line with harmonious rhythm. I evoke a luminous projection on veils ! Precise matter! No. Fluid rhythms. Why should one disregard, on screen, the pleasure that movement brings us in the theatre? Harmony of lines. Harmony of light. Lines, surfaces, volumes evolving directly, without the artifice of evocation, in the logic of its forms, dispossessed of any overly human sense, allowing an elevation towards the abstract, thus giving more space to sensations and to dreams : integral cinema. —Germaine Dulac

Johan van der Keuken went against the grain in 1980: from Amsterdam (on April 30 with the coronation riots and squatting actions) via Paris, southern France and Italy to Egypt. He made his personal travelogue in three parts for VPRO television. Later, he fused the three parts into one long movie.
