Stoney Cooper, a former Los Angeles police officer, is at a low point in his life. Kicked off the force because of his anti-authority attitude, he now ekes out a living as a freelancer in New York. All this changes when the daughter of an old friend is killed by serial killer terrorizing L.A. Although almost nobody in his old home town is happy to see him back, Cooper pledges to bring the killer to justice before any more innocent people die.

Men Without Jobs is a comedy about Ish and Oz - best friends and roommates whose main goal in life is to avoid work at all costs. Ish is a graffiti artist who dreams of starting his own hip-hop band. After many years of rambling across Europe the aging Giacomo Casanova is impoverished. He wants to return to the Republic of Venice but he doesn't dare going there directly because he was a fugitive when he left. While he tries to find a way to get a pardon he meets a young lady named Marcelina. The more he shows his affection, the more ostentatiously she rejects him. Even so he doesn't give up on her because her lover Lorenzo has grave gaming debts. In return for the required money Lorenzo tells Casanova about a looming secret rendezvous with Marcelina. Moreover he lets Casanova take his place. Undercover of the night Casanova finally seduces her. Lorenzo later feels his honor was besmirched and demands satisfaction. Casanova kills him in a duel and then goes home to Venice.

The early years of a television sports powerhouse are chronicled as ABC becomes a player in the NFL coverage by putting their full resources into a major showcase. Executive Roone Arledge (John Heard) recruits former Dallas Cowboys quarterback 'Dandy' Don Meredith (Brad Beyer), along with Keith Jackson (Shuler Hensley), and the combative Howard Cosell (John Turturro) as commentators for the broadcasts, which become funny, odd trio events to millions of viewers. Jackson departs the show after the first year to take over the network's focus on college football, and former New York Giants star Frank Gifford (Kevin Anderson) takes his place, ruffling Cosell's feathers. Then things get really crazy!

This is an anthology film with three stories. In "Portrait of a Murderer", a female artist draws sketches of a mysterious neighbor. She is unaware that the man is a murderer. "Duel at Dawn" is set in 1880s Austria. Two military officers fight a duel, with the survivor free to claim the heart of their shared love interest. "The Midas Touch" is a romance story of sorts. Jonah Watson is a successful American businessman, but is disgruntled with his life. He emigrates to England to start a new life, and works as a common servant. But he falls in love with a cockney maid who dreams of marrying into wealth.

조지는 유학 중인 외동딸 애니가 돌아와서 결혼하겠다는 폭탄 선언을 하자 심정이 복잡해진다. 눈에 넣어도 안 아플 딸이 아직도 어린애로 밖엔 안보이고, 그런 딸을 가로채가려는 사윗감은 보나마나 도둑놈이나 사깃꾼일거라고 생각하니 복잡할 수밖에. 딸의 결혼과 관련된 모든 일이 못마땅하기만 한 조지는 일종의 신경과민 상태에 빠져, 크고 작은 소동으로 딸과 아내는 물론 주위사람들을 곤란하게 만들지만, 조지의 간절한 희망(?)과는 달리 결혼 준비는 착착 진행된다. 엎친데 덮친격으로 결혼식 준비를 위해 고용한 예식 대행 전문가는 칼만 안들었지 강도나 다름없어서 기둥 뿌리를 뽑는다는 말을 실감하게 되는데. 하지만 언젠간 떠나보내야 하는 딸이고, 아무리 부정하려해도 딸과 천생연분인 사윗감을 보면서 딸의 행복을 위해 마음을 고쳐먹기로 한다. 결국, 자타가 공인하는 나무랄데 없는 근사한 결혼식과 피로연이 거행되지만 결혼식 당일도 이런저런 뒷치닥거리를 하느라 딸과 눈 한번 맞추지 못한 채 신혼 여행을 떠나보낸 조지는 마음 한구석이 허전하다. 그러나 공항에서 걸려온 딸의 전화가 가슴뭉클한 한마디를 전한다. "아빠, 사랑해요."

인터넷으로 메일을 주고 받으며 사이버 공간에서 서로에게 호감을 갖고 있는 죠(톰 행크스)와 캐슬린(멕 라이언). NY152와 SHOPGIRL이라는 아이디로 두 사람은 문학과 뉴욕에 대해서 채팅을 하며 서로에게 친밀감을 느낀다. 두 사람은 매우 가까이에 살고 있다. 실제 얼굴을 보지 못하고 사이버 공간에서만 만나다 보니, 그 사실을 몰랐을 뿐이다. 캐슬린은 동네의 작은 아동 전문서점 주인이고, 죠는 맨하튼의 대형 체인서점 '폭스 북스'의 사장이다. 그는 새 채인점을 캐슬린의 서점 근처에다 오픈할 계획을 갖고 있다. 폭스 북스는 박리다매와 질높은 서비스로 캐슬린의 서점을 압박하고, 사이버 공간에서와는 달리 현실에서는 서로 앙숙이 된다. 결국 어머니에게서 물려받은 서점이 문 닫을 지경에 이르자 캐슬린은 이메일로 죠에게 도움을 청한다.
