The Ambush (1969)

A dance troupe from the autonomous region of Abkhazia in western Georgia perform for Stalin, Lavrentiy Beria, Abkhaz leader Nestor Lakoba, and other high-ranking party officials in the Black Sea coastal town of Gagra.

앤디 말로우는 전직 영국 특수부대(SAS) 출신의 용병이다. 쿠데타로 인해 세르비아의 수상이 살해당하자 그는 발칸지역에서 은밀하게 정찰 임무를 수행하게 된다. 반란을 일으킨 인물은 올로단 크라코비치로 크로아티아 육군의 지휘관 출신이자 수배 중인 전범이다. 혼란을 틈타 오로단의 병력은 미국대사관을 습격하고, 미국 대사와 그의 참모를 인질로 잡는다. 미국은 고심 끝에 비밀리에 구출 작전을 수행할 용병을 해당지역에 투입한다. 앤디와 그의 팀은 어둠을 틈타 슈레브레니카 지역에 투입된다. 유엔 평화유지군으로 위장한 미국의 군사병력은 용병을 지원할 수는 있지만, 실제 작전에 참여할 수는 없다. 앤디와 그의 팀은 은밀하게 올로단의 본부로 잠입하여 올로단을 붙잡고 대사와 그의 참모를 구출한다. 하지만 구출 작전을 완료하기 위해서는 갈 길이 멀다. 올로단과 대사와 참모를 데리고 남쪽으로 40km 떨어진 안전 지대로 이동해야 한다. 올로단의 오른팔이 용병들을 쫓고, 그들의 임무는 예상과는 다른 방향으로 흘러간다. 용병들은 적의 숫자와 무기가 더 월등한 상황에서 패배할 확률이 높은 전투에 임해야만 한다.

1950년 종군기자 이태는 빨치산에 가담하게 되고,그가 생각하던 빨치산과 자신의 소극적인 행동에서 갈등한다. 청룡작전이 무너지고 토벌대에 쫓기면서 부상당한 이태는 자신을 간호하던 박민자와 사랑에 빠지나 본대 복귀명령으로 슬픈 이별을 한다. 겨울은 깊어가고 이태의 소대는 약담봉전투에 참여한다. 그곳에서 시인 김영을 만나 그는 동족간의 전쟁의 허무함을 토로한다. 계속되는 전투에 쫓긴 남부군은 지리산에 밀려와 상상속의 이현상사령관을 만나고, 이태는 김희숙대원의 용감성에 놀란다. 이때부터 그는 정치부소속의 정식당원이 된다. 휴전소식이 들리는 가운데 대원들의 분위기는 어수 선해지고 남부군은 추위와 굶주림으로 궁지에 몰린다. 마침내 최후의 발악과 같은 전투가 벌어지고 낙오된 이태는 눈속을 헤매다 토벌군의 포로가 된다. 그의 기나긴 빨치산 투쟁도 막을 내린 것이다.

A group of 19 young women, led by a partizan man, are the only people available to escort a number of partisan wounded in the struggle for freedom, in the mountain ranges invaded by the Nazi army. The crossing of difficult tracks, and a few encounters with enemy patrols provide danger, and death for some heroines. Two girls are in love with the column's commander, but love for the motherland and freedom will prove stronger.

Explosions are raging in one of the ports in the territory occupied by the German fascist invaders. An old and experienced military leader, Admiral Reinhardt, arrives to investigate these emergencies. Together with the head of the Gestapo, SS Standartenfuehrer Hübe, he takes all measures to suppress the activity of the partisans, raids and arrests, but all in vain. Underwater sabotage continues. A detachment of fighters with experience of submarine warfare is sent from Italy to fight the demolitions.

They encircle the mountain and begin the mop up operation. Out gunned and outnumbered the partisans must not only take care of themselves but try to protect thousands of refugees too.

Year 1945. The second World War is over and the soldiers from the disbanded army are returning home. Yet there is still no sign of Joze Malek.
