과거 프랑스 왕실에는 쌍둥이가 태어나면 한명은 왕위를 계승하고 다른 한명은 철가면을 씌워 지하감옥에 영원히 가두어 버리는 법이 있었다. 1600년대 파리, 왕도 모르게 신하 달타냥(D'Artagnan: 가브리엘 바이른 분)과 왕비(Queen Anne: 앤 파릴로드 분) 사이에서 불륜으로 인한 쌍둥이가 태어난다. 왕위를 계승한 루이 14세(King Louis: 레오나르도 디카프리오 분)는 굶주린 백성들을 외면한 채 전쟁을 일삼고 향락에 빠져산다. 물론 철가면을 쓴 루이 14세의 쌍둥이 형제 필립(Philippe: 레오나르도 디카프리오 분)은 지하 감옥에 갇혀 생사를 알 길이 없다. 한편, 은퇴한 삼총사는 각자 조용한 여생을 보내고 있다. 아라미스(Aramis: 제레미 아이언스 분)는 신부로서, 포토스(Porthos: 제라르 디파듀 분)는 여색에 빠져 인생을 즐기고 있으며, 아토스(Athos: 존 말코비치 분)는 아들 라울(Raoul: 피터 사스가드 분)에게 기대를 걸며 평범하게 살고 있다. 반면에 달타냥은 왕의 경호대장으로 바쁘게 생활한다. 난세가 영웅을 만들 듯, 루이 14세의 난폭한 정치는 이들을 한자리로 모이게 한다. 결정적으로 아토스는 아들이 루이 14세에게 약혼녀를 빼앗기고 전쟁터에 내몰려 죽임을 당하자 복수를 결심한다. 아라미스, 아토스, 포토스, 달타냥은 한자리에 모여 왕을 제거할 계획을 세우지만 달타냥은 왕의 경호를 맡은 사람으로서 끝내 거부한다. 달타냥을 제외한 삼총사는 철가면을 쓰고 감옥에 갇혀있는 왕의 쌍둥이 동생 필립을 탈출시키고 왕을 바꿔치기 위한 모든 계획을 진행시킨다. 아토스는 왕으로서의 모든 행동과 자세를 필립에게 교육시키고 그 과정에서 아토스와 필립은 정이 생긴다. 마침내 필립과 루이를 바꿔치기 하는 날, 성공직전에 경호대장 달타냥에 의해 계획은 수포로 돌아가고 필립은 다시 감옥으로 보내진다.

쌍둥이처럼 똑같이 생긴 여자 아이 둘이 같은 날, 같은 시에 태어난다. 폴란드의 베로니카와 프랑스의 베로니크, 둘은 상대방의 감정과 경험을 어렴풋하게나마 공유하며 서로의 존재를 느낀다. 노래에 천부적인 소질이 있는 베로니카는 우연한 기회에 콘서트 독창자로 발탁되지만 공연 도중 갑자기 심장이 멎어 숨을 거둔다. 한편 베로니크는 남자친구와 사랑을 나누던 중 까닭 모를 상실감에 눈물을 흘린다. 아이들에게 음악을 가르치던 그녀는 어느 날 학교를 방문한 마리오네트 인형극을 보던 중 인형사 알렉상드르에게 강렬하게 이끌리는데....

제르꾸르(Gercourt: 제프리 존스 분)의 정부인 메르떼이유(Merteuil: 아네트 베닝 분) 후작 부인은 제르꾸르가 마담드 볼랑즈(Madame De Volanges: 시안 필립스 분)의 외동딸 세실(Cecile: 파이루자 발크 분)과 결혼식을 올릴 예정이라는 사실을 알고는 젊은 탕아 발몽(Valmont: 콜린 퍼스 분)을 시켜 결혼식 전에 세실의 순결을 빼앗으려는 계략을 꾸민다. 14세의 어린 소녀 세실은 아무 것도 모른 체 메르떼이유 후작 부인의 도움을 빌어 같은 또래의 음악 가정교사인 당스니(Danceny: 헨리 토마스 분) 기사와 연애 편지를 주고 받으며 사춘기적 풋사랑에 빠진다. 한편 발몽은 친척집에서 만난 젊은 유부녀 뚜르벨(Tourvel: 멕 틸리 분) 부인에게 반하여 그녀를 유혹하기에 바쁜데. 결국 발몽은 질투에 가득찬 메르떼이유 후작 부인의 계략에 휘말려 세실의 순결을 차지하게 되지만, 당스니 기사와의 싸움에서 그의 칼에 목숨을 잃고 마는 위험한 관계의 희생양이 되고 만다. 임신을 한 세실은 권력을 쥔 제르꾸르와 예정된 결혼식을 올리고 당스니 기사는 새로운 발몽이 된다.

In the aftermath of World War II, a soldier takes charge of a manor formerly owned by a German family and falls in love with the daughter, now a maid. Their relationship forces him to confront the tension between his love and his conscience.

October 5th, at 10.30 pm , after pope John-Paul II`s blessing of Lyon from the top of Fourvieres hill, Rendez-Vous Lyon got under way, a concert performed for more than 800,000 people on the banks of the river Saone. Fourvieres hill was ablaze for ninety minutes, fired on by cannons of light, fireworks and images synchronised to music being performed live on the central stage by Jean-Michel Jarre, 60 musicians and 120 choristers. A baroque feast, blending classical and avant-garde, workmanship and high-tech, past and future, Rendez-Vous Lyon will long be remembered as an exceptional event.

The film includes rare archival footage and tells in a very personal way of Gidon Kremer's encounters with Johan Sebastian Bach's music, accompanying the famous violin virtuoso in rehearsals, recording sessions and discussions with a few trusted confidants.

In this unique documentary, French filmmaker Benoit Jacquot interviews Alfred Deller, the internationally celebrated contemporary countertenor who focused his talent on showcasing Renaissance and Baroque music to modern audiences. One of the few films on Deller, it includes footage of him performing selections from Campion, Rosseter, Morley and Purcell. Deller toured the globe with his group, the Deller Consort, from the 1950s through the '70s.

When Bach was in the service of Prince Leopold in Coethen, he had his own orchestra and was contracted to compose a great deal of instrumental music. This gave him an opportunity to try new techniques and to develop his own instrumental style. The six Brandenburg Concertos belongs to these masterpieces for a small ensemble. This joyously infectious performance of these famous landmarks in the history of music by the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra demonstrates both the musical satisfaction and the high professional standard that can be reached with period instruments. The performance was given in the Bach Anniversary Year 2000 – 250 years after his death – in the elegant Hall of Mirrors at Coethen Castle. The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra’s members all have virtuoso skills. They take the spotlight gracefully for solos but also play with the true ensemble spirit required by the music. Their decision to perform without a conductor revives an eighteenth century practice.

The Spanish sculptor meditates about his life and work

Honoring the legacy of renowned 17th-century English Baroque composer Henry Purcell, the talented Choir of Clare College performs a selection of his sacred music, including "Te Deum," "Jubilate," "Anthems" and "Funeral Music for Queen Mary." Recorded at the beautiful Jesus College Chapel in Cambridge and directed by Timothy Brown, this live performance features the work of several brilliant soloists.

The Flemish painter, humanist and diplomat Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) was fortunate to be recognized during his lifetime as an artist of genius and one of the most prolific among his peers, making him a key figure of the Baroque.
