A test pilot is missing and a search party is sent out in the jungles of Mexico; however, while searching they uncover a monster in the jungle who became this way due to a dose of radioactivity.

애론로젠버그가 1955년에 제작한 서부극. 디 링포드의 원작, 다니엘 D 뷰체프가 각색, 킹비더가 감독한 서부 개척시대를 배경으로 한 영화. 일반적으로 알고 있는 액션 웨스턴 서부극이라기보다 무자비하게 확장하는 대목장으로부터 살아남기 위해 중소목장의 마지막 선택인 목초지에 철책을 치게 되지만 그로 인해 새로운 곳으로 떠날 수밖에 없는 카우보이들의 심정을 느끼게 한다. 목표가 없는 방랑 카우보이 뎀시 레이 역에 커크 더글러스를 캐스팅하였으며 반면 목적을 위해 수단과 방법을 가리지 않는 야심 찬 대목장 경영 여주인 지니 크레인의 양면의 얼굴을 엿 볼 수 있다.

수년 간 몸담아온 낡은 전차를 폐차시키겠다는 결정에 화가 난 두 젊은 직원(운전사와 차장)은 낡은 전차를 몰고 멕시코 시내를 여행한다. 이들의 환상적인 여정을 따라 멕시코의 가난한 이웃들의 삶이 사실적으로 드러난다.

자신의 전집 출판일에 참석한 노령의 작가 비터는 그 자리에 모인 사이비 작가들과 권위만 앞세우는 신문 주인을 비난하고 작별을 고한다. 이를 뒷편에서 우연히 지켜본 노처녀 해리엣이 감동하여 엄마의 위선적인 보호를 과감히 뒤로하고 미란다 가문의 가정교사로 취직되어 멕시코에 온다. 그러나 멕시코는 이미 농민들을 주축으로 한 혁명이 진행 중이었고, 미란다 가문은 혁명의 적으로 선언된 뒤였다. 곧 자신도 모르게 혁명군의 무리에 휩쓸려 같이 어울리게 되고, 이곳에 온 비터를 알게되며, 혁명군을 이끄는 인디안 장군 아로요와 사랑에 빠지게 된다. 미란다 가족의 영지를 탈취한 아로요는 혁명군과 사령관 빌라의 진격 명령에도 불구하고 계속 남아 옛날의 토지 문서를 찾아내고 그 문서들과 씨름한다. 시간이 경과하며 부하들의 불안감이 퍼지고, 아들처럼 친해진 아로요를 위해 노령의 작가 비터는 문서를 태워 버리는데 이를 본 아로요는 그를 등 뒤에서 쏘아 살해한다. 비터가 자신이 좋아하던 유명 작가라는 사실을 뒤늦게 알자마자 해리엣은 자신의 품안에서 그의 최후의 ? 보게 된다. 해리엣은 그의 시신을 모셔가기 위해 미국 영사관의 도움을 청하고, 미국의 개입을 염려한 혁명군 사령관은 아로요를 명령위반으로 처형한다. 혁명군의 젊은 장군과 노령 작가의 두 죽음을 목격한 해리엣은 두 사람을 기억하며 새로운 삶을 위해 멀리 떠난다.

The protagonist, Trace, is first to notice the Dinoshark and witnesses his friend get eaten, but has trouble convincing people that a creature of such antiquity is still alive and eating people.
