A documentary about the history and reformation of Toronto punk band Death from Above 1979.

Instrument is a documentary film directed by Jem Cohen about the band Fugazi. Cohen's relationship with band member Ian MacKaye extends back to the 1970s when the two met in high school in Washington, D.C.. The film takes its title from the Fugazi song of the same name, from their 1993 album, In on the Kill Taker. Editing of the film was done by both Cohen and the members of the band over the course of five years. It was shot from 1987 through 1998 on super 8, 16mm and video and is composed mainly of footage of concerts, interviews with the band members, practices, tours and time spent in the studio recording their 1995 album, Red Medicine. The film also includes portraits of fans as well as interviews with them at various Fugazi shows around the United States throughout the years.

1965년 시드니의 ABS 방송기자 해밀턴(Guy Hamilton: 멜 깁슨 분)은 첫 해외 근무지인 인도네시아의 자카르타에 도착한다. 극심한 빈곤과 좌우익의 이념의 대결로 수카르노 정권이 위기를 맞고 있을 때 신참 해외특파원 해밀턴은 노련한 타회사 특파원들 틈에서 고전을 면치 못한다. 프리랜서 사진기자인 난쟁이 콴이 해밀턴에게 호의를 보이며, 공산당 최고 지도자와의 인터뷰를 성사시켜 준다. 이 특종 하나로 해밀턴은 단번에 일류 특파원으로 인정받고 다른 특파원들의 시기의 대상이 된다. 콴은 영국대사관 직원 질(Jill Bryant: 시고니 위버 분)을 해밀턴에게 소개해 준다. 불같은 정열과 얼음 같은 냉철함을 갖춘 미모의 지성인 질. 두 사람은 첫대면부터 사랑을 느끼고 갈 수록 뜨거운 관계로 발전한다. 해밀턴은 콴한테서 공산당이 중국의 지원으로 바란을 일으킬 것이라는 정보를 입수하고 보도하면서 요주의 인물로 지목된다. 수카르노를 영웅으로 생각하던 콴은 수카르노의 장지집권과 부정부패에 회의를 느끼고 반정부 프래카드를 호텔에 내건뒤 자살한다. 드디어 공산당이 반란을 일으키고 시내는 혼란에 빠진다. 해밀턴은 혼란 속에서 더이상 자신이 설 곳을 찾지 못하고 간신히 빠져 나와 비행기에 오른다.

펑크밴드에서 만난 시드와 낸시, 이 당시의 펑크밴드는 기존의 질서에 반기를 들고 나선 저항적인 성격이 매우 강했다. 이들 두 연인에게 전통이나 과거는 통하지 않고 오직 반기와 저항만이 가득한다. 이런 문화 속에서 만난 두사람은 일반인들에게는 비정상적으로 보이는 사랑을 나눈다. 시드와 낸시의 사랑은 절망적이고 격렬해서, 결국 78년 뉴욕의 첼리사 호텔에서 운명의 막을 내린다. 헤로인에 중독된 이들은 호텔에서 시드가 낸시를 살해함으로써 국제적인 뉴스가 되었다. 시드는 그룹 섹스 피스톨즈의 베이시스트였다.

A 1-hour Documentary looking at the Manchester post-punk group and its infamous leader Mark E Smith. The Film follows the current band recording their final Session for the John Peel Show (they were his favourite group and recorded more sessions than any other band) as well as chronicling the chaotic history of the band & its numerous line-up changes.

From the beginning, LA punk band the Circle Jerks were rooted in controversy. Formed by ex members of Black Flag and Red Cross (now Redd Kross) in late 1979, the band came to encapsulate the image, sound and energy of California Hardcore Punk. Filmmaker David Markey (1991: The Year Punk Broke, The Slog Movie) mixes in-depth interviews, rare live footage and historical perspective to illustrate the story of one of the most influential bands in the American underground. My Career as a Jerk follows the band from their early days and classic debut to navigating the independent label and touring scene of the 80s to the addictions, fights and injuries that forced their break up. Of course the story doesn't quite end there.

인도네시아 수마트라의 한 작은 마을, 이곳에서 어머니를 모시고 농사를 지으며 살아가는 ‘유다’는 인도네시아 전통 무술 ‘실랏’을 연마하는 건실한 청년이다. ‘실랏’에 뛰어난 실력을 보여 온 그는 마을의 전수자로 임명되고 전통에 따라 ‘메란타우’라는 의식을 수행해야 하는 운명에 놓이게 된다. ‘메란타우’란 마을을 떠나 다른 지역을 돌며 다양한 경험을 통해 자아를 발견하는 일종의 수행과 같은 것. 앞서 이 의식으로 인해 부상을 당한 많은 마을 청년들 때문에 걱정하는 어머니를 뒤로 하고 ‘유다’는 묵묵히 수행의 길을 떠난다. ‘자카르타’에 도착한 ‘유다’는 지인의 도움을 받기 위해 연락을 취하지만 연결이 되지 않자 이곳 저곳을 떠돌며 도심 뒷골목에서 벌어지고 있는 슬픈 현실들을 직접 목격하게 된다. 그러던 어느 날, 인신매매조직에게 끌려가는 ‘아스트리’라는 어린 소녀를 보게 된 ‘유다’는 위험을 무릎 쓰고 그녀를 구하기 위해 인신매매조직원들과 목숨을 건 격투를 벌이게 되는데...
