시놉시스
악어 축제로 유명한 위스키 강 근처 늪지대에서 식당을 운영하는 레이첼 남매. 평소와 다를 바 없던 마을에 난데없이 상어가 나타나 사람들을 공격하기 시작한다. 그 첫 피해자인 잭슨의 죽음에 오빠 제이슨이 용의자로 의심받고, 식당마저 영업정지의 위기에 놓이자, 레이첼은 식당을 구하고자 직접 상어사냥에 나서는데...
언제나 사랑의 끈으로 연결되어 있던 쟌다리(Zandalee: 에리카 앤더슨 분)와 티어리(Thierry: 저지 레인홀드 분), 그러나 티어리가 아버지의 사업을 이어받으면서 행복은 깨지고 만다. 이때 밑바닥 인생을 살며 그림에 미쳐 있는 광기의 남자, 쟈니(Johnny: 니콜라스 케이지 분)로 쟌다리는 본능에 눈뜨게 된다. 이를 티어리도 눈치채지만 아내에게 성적 만족을 주지 못하는 그는 적극적으로 말리지 못한다. 한편 쟌다리는 고민 끝에 남편에게 모든 사실을 알리고 새출발하기로 하는데.

어느 작은 남아프리카 마을이 상어 공격으로 공포에 빠졌다. 이로 인해 이 마을의 주요 생계 유지 수단인 어업 및 관광 사업이 큰 타격을 입게 된다. 한편, 해양과학 연구소의 연구원 마크가 정체 불명의 괴한들에게 납치되어 상어 먹이로 제공된다. 며칠 후, 그의 토막 난 잔해는 큰머리 상어의 뱃속에서 발견되지만 마크의 죽음은 그저 단순 사고로 처리된다. 마크의 죽음에 대한 소식을 들은 그의 친구인 해양 생물 업자 스티븐(Steven McKray: 캐스퍼 반 디엔 분)은 상어의 공격적인 행동에 대한 원인을 찾기 위해 이 마을에 오게 된다. 스티븐은 이곳 해양 과학 연구소에서 일하고 있는 마크의 여동생으로부터 오빠의 죽음에 대한 의문점을 듣게 되고 마크의 죽음과 관련된 상어의 공격에 대한 수사를 진행하게 된다.
