지구 바다 위의 과학함선 볼코프호와 교신 중인 우주정거장 미르. 외계로부터 에너지 형태의 외계생명체가 순식간에 미르를 덮친다. 우주인들은 비명 속에서 몰살당하고, 동시에 외계생명체는 미르와 교신 중이던 볼포크 호의 파라볼라 안테나에 내리 꽂힌다. 한편, 태풍 위니아가 몰아치고 있는 바다 한복판, 애버튼 선장이 이끄는 작은 화물선 씨스타호는 태풍에 의해 엔진이 고장나 끌고 가던 바지선을 잃어버린 후, 난파 위기에 빠진다. 항해사 키트의 탁월한 판단 덕분에 가까스로 태풍의 눈 속으로 피신하지만. 잃어버린 바지선에는 애버튼의 전재산, 그리고 선원들 각자의 몫이 포함되어 있어 허탈감에 빠진다. 키트는 레이다를 통해 가까운 곳에 거대한 배가 있음을 알아낸다. 안도감을 느끼는 스티브, 키트, 그리고 선원들. 그러나 권총자살까지 생각했던 애버튼은 다른 희망을 품는다. 무인선박을 인양할 경우, 배의 값어치에 해당하는 금액의 10%를 받을 수 있기 때문이다. 큰 돈에 욕심이 난 애버튼의 지휘 아래 그들은 볼코프호에 승선한다. 그런데, 대체 무슨 일이 일어났는지 배는 텅텅 비어있다. 배 안을 살피던 그들은 꺼져 있던 전원을 복구시키는데, 그러자 이상하고 무시무시한 일들이 벌어지기 시작한다.

스릴러로서는 조금 떨어지지만 드라마는 즐길 만하다는 평을 받았다. 렉스 블랙(Rex Black: 로렌스 하비 분)은 아내 스텔라(Stella Black: 리 레믹 분)와 짜고 글라이더 사고를 위장해 자신이 사망한 것처럼 만든 다음 스페인으로 떠난다. 스텔라가 보험금 지불을 기다리는 동안 렉스는 스페인에서 호주인 갑부의 여권을 훔쳐 그의 행세를 하며 스텔라를 기다 린다. 보험 회사 직원인 스티븐 매독스(Stephen: 앨런 베이츠 분)는 렉스의 죽음에 의심을 품지만 스텔라는 결국 보험금을 받아 내서 스페인으로 떠난다. 스페인에서 재회한 스텔라와 렉스, 두 사람은 큰 돈을 손에 넣은 것에 행복해 하며 호사스런 날들을 보낸다. 하지만 그런 행복도 잠시였다. 휴가를 맞아 스페인을 찾았다는 스티븐이 그들 앞에 나타난 것이다. 처음에 스티븐을 기억하지 못하던 스텔라는 그가 보험 회사 직원이라는 사실을 알고 긴장하고 그를 멀리하지만 스티븐은 스텔 라와 렉스 주위에 계속 머문다. 스티븐의 행동 하나하나에 렉스와 스텔라는 계속 긴장하고 스티븐의 존재에 위기감을 느낀 렉스는 스티븐을 죽일 계획을 한다. 한편 스티븐은 스텔라에게 사랑을 고백하는데.

Two fast-talking insurance salesmen meet Mary, who is running away from her wealthy mother, and they agree to help her run a hotel that she owns. When they find out that the hotel is run down and nearly abandoned, they launch a phony PR campaign that presents the hotel as a resort favored by the rich.
