어느 날, 착하고 용감한 고아 소년 요탄 앞에 이상한 할아버지가 찾아와 크리스마스가 위기에 처했다며 도움을 청한다. 그러나 이 할아버지는 사실 산타의 욕심 많은 쌍둥이 동생 바질로 산타의 매직 크리스탈을 빼앗아 크리스마스를 없애고 어린이들을 조정하려는 무서운 음모를 꾸미고 있었던 것. 요탄은 사랑스런 다람쥐 친구 지피와 몸짱 순록 포로, 그리고 산타 마을의 신비로운 요정 자가와 힘을 합쳐 산타와 크리스마스를 구할 수 있을까?

내 이름은 ‘니코’! 내 꿈은 자유롭게 하늘을 나는 거야. 근데 우리 마을 사슴들은 나를 비웃으며 말하길, 내가 날지 못 할거래. 하지만 난 단 한번도 만나보지 못한 우리 아빠가 나의 꿈인 ‘산타 비행단’이란 얘길 듣고 나니 더욱 자신감이 생겼어. 난 꼭 하늘을 날고 말테야! 그러던 어느 날, 아무도 몰래 하늘을 날으는 연습을 하다가 음흉한 늑대들에게 들켜 버린거야. 그래서 우리 마을은 아수라장이 되고 말았어~ 으흑... 그리고 난 나의 베스트 프렌드이자 잔소리꾼 날다람쥐 ‘줄리어스’와 함께 ‘산타 비행단’을 찾아 떠나기로 결심했어. 산타마을로 가는 길에 새 친구들도 만나고, 나를 뒤쫓던 늑대를 피해 숨기도 하고... 떠돌이 족제비 여가수 ‘윌마’의 합류로 탄생한 나의 새로운 패밀리와 시작된 흥미진진한 모험! 내 꿈을 찾아 함께 산타마을로 떠나자구~~ “어때~ 완전 기대 되지?!"

When 12-year-old Lauri tries too hard to get his older siblings’ attention he falls badly and loses his ability to walk. Now Lauri is stuck at home, lonelier than he ever was. Just then a helpful furry creature from another dimension appears and takes him on a fantasy adventure. In the other dimension Lauri trades his shadow for being able to walk again, but the shadow becomes a goofy, all-eating monster who follows Lauri back to his world. To beat the monster Lauri needs to team up with his siblings and give up his ability to walk. However, Lauri is now determined to learn to walk again and he has his siblings beside him - and that’s what really matters.

After a tearful goodbye, Niko leaves his family behind to fulfil his biggest dream and take his place next to his father on Santa’s Flying Forces. Stella, an unknown challenger, arrives to compete for Niko’s spot. Despite their competitiveness, the pair take a liking to each other, and Niko shows Stella where Santa’s sleigh is hidden. However, on the night before Christmas Eve, Stella steals it. Gutted by Stella’s betrayal and desperate to appease his angry father, Niko heads to the frozen North to recover the sleigh. He is accompanied by his old friends Wilma and Julius.
