Selminha is back! Now she is rich, paying top dollar for everything she needs and wants. The problem is that a poor person’s happiness is brief. A namesake heir appears claiming that she is the legitimate inheritor. Selminha’s assets are frozen and her only source of income is what the courts have stipulated until they resolve the case: a minimum wage salary of R$30 per day. However, Selminha has already forgotten how to live the hardship, bankruptcy, and disgrace of poverty. And worst, she is the patron of the Quintino community, and with her financial difficulties, the community also feels the squeeze.
Based on the classic Brazilian television series that conquered audiences during Sunday night prime time on TV Globo, with improv that happens like in scenes of a play. The feature film’s structure maintains the members of a middle-class family from São Paulo, their maid, and the building’s doorman. It’s the return of iconic characters like Caco Antibes, Magda and Ribamar, and also new characters.
Selminha is a lower-class woman who receives a family inheritance, but only if she meets the challenge of spending 30 million reais in 30 days, without accumulating anything. However, in this marathon, she will find out that there are things that money does not buy.
Set in an imaginary world where gender stereotypes are inverted, that is, women occupy positions of power while men are raised to be socially submissive. Emerging issues are addressed, not just machismo, but racism, classism and corruption, rooted in the patriarchal culture of Brazil and the world.
