This movie serial in 12 chapters was originally planned as a sequel to "Radar Men From The Moon" with Commando Cody as the hero but at the last moment the main characters' names were changed and all other references to that serial removed from the script.

Accountant Augustis King discovers that his wife, Marfhe, is having an affair with his boss Sam Bellows. He telephones Internal Revenue Bureau that he can give evidence of a large tax-evasion racket. Before IRS-agent Steve Daniels arrives, King is murdered by a henchman of Bellows and his partner, Ernie Medford. Daniels discovers that Bellows and Medford are smuggling gold bullion from their mine in Mexico, and sell and bank the money under assumed names. they hide the bullion in a compartment welded to the bottom of a car.

Astronauts blast off to explore the moon on Rocketship X-M or "Rocketship eXploration Moon". A spacecraft malfunction and some fuel miscalculations cause them to end up landing on Mars. On Mars, evidence of a once powerful civilization is found. The scientists determined that an atomic war destroyed most of the Martians. Those that survived reverted to a caveman like existence.

This film and the 1950 short "The Fargo Phantom" were edited together and released as a feature called "Tales of the West #2" in 1950.

평범지만 정직하게 살려고 애쓰는 윌리 스탁(Willie Stark: 브로데릭 크로포드 분)은 부패한 마을의 관리들에 맞서 정직한 정치를 하기 위해 정치계에 발을 들여놓는다. 신문사 기자 잭 버든(Jack Burden: 존 아일랜드 분)은 부장의 명령을 받고 윌리를 취재하다가 그와 친해진다. 윌리는 학교 건립과 관련하여 관리들의 부정한 행위가 있었음을 마을 사람들에게 알리려 하지만 결국 선거에서는 패배하고 만다. 그러던 어느 날, 학교 소방훈련 과정에서 학교가 무너져 어린 아이들이 사망하는 사고가 발생하고. 이 사고를 계기로 마을 사람들은 윌리의 말을 믿게 된다. 그리고 그는 마을 사람들의 지지를 얻어 다음 선거에 당선된다. 하지만 당선이 된 후, 그는 많은 공약들을 내세우며 그것을 이루기 위해 더러운 정계와 결탁하고 서서히 물들어간다. 그 뿐 아니라 자기와 친구 관계인 잭의 주변 사람들까지 끌어들여 이용하기 시작한다.
