오래 전의 일본. 사람이나 짐승을 닥치는 대로 잡아 먹는다는 텐구(天狗, 상상 속의 동물)가 나온다는 흉흉한 깊은 산중에 위치한 산사(山寺)에, 전투 끝에 중상을 입은 사무라이(오오사와 타카오)와 그의 동료가 숨어든다. 이 사무라이를 돕는 사찰을 지키는 또 하나의 미스터리 한 기운을 가진 남자(가토 마사야)의 보살핌 덕에 드디어 상처도 다 나아 함께 술을 마시게 된 사무라이와 사찰을 지키는 남자. 남자에게 동료의 죽음과 사찰에 대한 이야기 등을 듣던 사무라이는 그 남자에게서 갑자기 자신은 인간이 아니며 불사신과도 같은 싸움의 신인 “아라가미(荒神)”라는 믿을 수 없는 말을 듣게 된다. 거기서 한술 더 떠 이제 자신도 인간들과 같이 ‘꿈’을 꾸어보고 싶다는 둥, 자신이 역사상 가장 위대한 사무라인인 ‘미야모토 무사시’라고 이야기 하며 자신을 죽여달라고 까지 한다. 그 말을 처음엔 믿지 않지만 거부할 수 없는 남자의 강한 기운과 동료의 죽음에 대한 비밀을 듣게 된 후 그의 부탁을 받아들이게 된 사무라이. 이제 그가 살아서 이 산을 나갈 수 있는 길은 단 하나. 아라가미와 싸워 그를 죽이는 것뿐. 마침내 일생일대의 대결은 시작되고, 필사의 싸움 끝에 사무라이는 예기치 못한 운명의 순간을 맞이하게 되는데…

Three aspiring young Japanese models are on their very first fashion shoot at an abandoned school one hot summer day. Without warning, strange events begin occurring around the set that causes the models and photo crew to question their sanity, as one by one they begin to die agonizing and painful deaths that are seemingly caused by none other than themselves.

일명 아사마산장 사건이라 회자되고 있는 이 사건은, 실화를 바탕으로 만들어졌으며, 범인으로부터 인질 1명을 구해내기위한, 경찰과 범인들간의 사투를 사실적으로 그려낸 영화.

사카구치 타쿠는 동료들과 함께 자신을 데려가기로 한 사람이 기다리고 있는 장소로 가지만, 이들을 기다리고 있던 남자들은 보스가 오기를 기다려야 한다고만 말한다. 초조해하던 그들의 앞에 미사카 치에코라는 여자가 나타난다. 타쿠는 치에코를 본 순간 어디선가 그녀를 본듯한 느낌에 사로잡히고, 다른 남자가 그녀를 함부로 대하는 것을 보고 분노하여 그들에게 달려든다. 그러나 총을 가지고 있던 상대방에게 밀린 타쿠는 치에코와 함께 숲 속으로 도망가고, 그 곳에서 신비한 경험을 하게 된다.
