The history of the Yakuza Eiga at the TOEI studio is roughly outlined. Real Yakuza and also their connections to the movie business are discussed, and many important actors and directors of the genres are interviewed. Former real yakuza boss turned actor Noboru Ando, Takashi Miike, Sonny Chiba and many more get a chance to speak.

전함 야마토(大和)의 생존자와 유족을 상대로 한 방대한 취재에 기초해 쓴 헨미 준(邊見じゅん) 원작의 를 영화화한 작품. 1944년 2월 태평양 전쟁 말기, 카미오를 비롯한 소년병들이 야마토 호에 승선한다. 소년들은 야마토의 위용에 반하지만 곧바로 혹독한 훈련이 시작되고 그 속에서 소년들은 기총사수인 우치다 이병조와 취사반장인 모리와키를 존경하고 따르게 된다. 두 사람은 서로 배속된 곳이 다르지만 격렬한 유도시합으로 자신을 단련하는 인물들도 다른 하사관들과는 달랐다.같은 해 10월, 필리핀에서 벌어진 해전에 참전한 야마토 호는 미군기의 맹공을 받는다. 이 과정에서 우치다가 부상당하고 모리와키는 그를 치료실로 옮긴 뒤 당황한 소년병들을 격려하고 질책한다. 연합함대가 괴멸당한 이 전투에서 우치다는 중상을 입고 야마토를 떠난다. 1945년 3월, 출격을 앞두고 승조원들은 마지막 상륙을 허락받는다. 짧고 애절한 시간을 보내고 돌아온 그들 앞에는 군법을 어기면서까지 병원에서 도망쳐나온 우치다가 있었다. 그리고 4월 1일, 미군기가 오키나와를 공습하면서 야마토의 출격 명령이 떨어진다.

하얀 눈으로 뒤덮인 시골 마을 종착역, 호로마이. 평생 호로마이 역을 지켜온 철도원, 오토(타카구라 켄 분). 눈이 내리면 그는 고개 들어 눈송이를 쏟아내는 먼 하늘을 하염없이 바라본다. 지난 날 잃어버린 소중한 이들의 흔적을 찾아. 17년전 겨울 어느날, 철도 위에서 오토가 열차를 점검하고 있을 때 우유빛 고운 얼굴의 아내가 그에게 달려왔다. 아기를 가졌다며 기쁨에 어쩔 줄 몰라하는 천진난만한 아내, 시즈에(오타케 시노부 분). 오토의 넓은 어깨에 안겨 너무나 행복해하는 그녀를 오토는 포근하게 안아주었다. 오랜 기다림 끝에 태어난 딸에게 오토와 시즈에는 '눈의 아이'라는 뜻의 유키코란 이름을 지어줬다. 하지만 행복은 잠시. 유키코가 태어난 지 두 달 쯤 된 어느 날, 급작스런 열병에 걸린 아이를 데리고 병원에 갔던 아내는 눈처럼 차갑게 식어버린 딸의 시신을 안고 돌아왔고, 딸의 죽음을 지켜보지 못한 채 어김없이 역을 지키고 있던 오토의 가슴엔 깊은 상처가 자라나기 시작했다. 그리고 또다시 아내 시즈에가 깊은 병을 얻어 큰 병원에 입원하는 날도 오토는 역에 남아 슬프도록 맑은 눈으로 자신을 바라보는 아내를 홀로 보내고 말았다. 그렇게 떠난 아내마저 쓸쓸히 유키코가 있는 하늘로 가버리고. 오토의 정년 퇴임을 앞둔 새해 아침. 눈 쌓인 플랫폼을 치우고 있던 오토에게 낯선 여자아이 하나가 인사를 한다. 가슴에 인형을 안고 천진스레 웃고 있는 소녀는 처음부터 그를 알고 있었다는 듯 성큼 오토에게 다가오는데...

감독은 이가라시 타쿠야. 각본 야마구치 료타. 미즈노 아미의 인기가 엄청나게 높아지게 되자 아예 아미를 주인공으로 만들었다. 원작 코믹스의 외전 단편 '입시전쟁편 : 아미의 첫사랑'에 근거해 있다. 아미를 제치고 모의고사에서 1등을 한 '메르쿠리우스'라는 자의 정체를 찾아 나서는 이야기이다. 작화감독 시모기사 미호에 원화 나카야마 히사시, 야마시타 타카아키, 야마시타 아키히코, 호소다 마모루 라는 쟁쟁한 라인업을 자랑한다. 특히 호소다 마모루가 애니메이터로 참여한 작품으로도 유명하다. 그 이전에도 참여했지만 스태프롤까지 이름이 올라간 건 이 작품이 최초이다.
