Actor, director, screenwriter, TV presenter, art historian. Born in the family of writer, screenwriter and director Sergei Bodrov Sr. In 1993 he graduated from the History Department of Moscow State University (Department of Art History). In 1998 he defended his thesis on "Architecture in the Venetian Renaissance painting." In 1996-1999 he was the presenter of the program “Vzglyad” (ORT). In 2001, as a presenter, he took part in the "Last Hero" program on Channel One. He began working in cinema with his father’s filming, starring in his films first in the episodic role of “SIR / Freedom is Paradise” (1989), and then in the lead role (“Prisoner of the Caucasus” (1996). Danila Bagrova in the films of Alexei Balabanov “Brother” (1997) and “Brother-2” (2000). In 2001 he made his directorial debut with the film “Sisters.” In the summer of 2002, Bodrov began working on his new film - the mystical drama “The Messenger”. On the evening of September 20, 2002, he went missing in the Karmadon Gorge in North Ossetia, where the film crew of the Oka alas the path descended Kolka glacier.

The film “We Others Will Not” emerged as a direct continuation of numerous meetings and conversations with Sergei Bodrov Jr. and Alexei Balabanov. The idea to reflect again on the phenomenon of Sergei Bodrov Jr.’s identity belongs to Evgeniy Nikishov and Valeriy Fedorovich. Together we decided to go on this difficult journey. Close friends and colleagues talk about Sergei: the producer Sergei Selyanov, the designer Nadezhda Vasilyeva, the composer Vyacheslav Butusov, the cinematographer Sergei Astakhov, and also… Sergei Bodrov Jr. and the director Alexei Balabanov, whose films “Brother” and “Brother 2” acquired popular fame at the threshold of the 2000s.
Screenplay
The year is 1917. We are in the Russian countryside. It is the middle of freezing winter. A pale young, newly educated doctor arrives. Having to deal with one medical challenge after another he soon becomes the center of everyone's attention. To soothe the impressions of human suffering he turns to morphine.

전쟁영웅 데닐라는 우연한 기회에 TV 프로그램에 출연했다가 연락이 끊어졌던 옛 전우를 만나게 된다. 아이스 하키 선수가 된 친구는 미국 프로 아이스하키 팀의 황금 같은 스카우트 제의를 받아놓고 있는 상태. 그러나 얼마 후 잔인하게 살인된 채 변사체로 발견된다. 의문의 죽음을 당한 친구의 복수를 결심한 데닐라는 친구의 죽음이 소련 마피아와 연루되었다는 사실을 알게 된다. 더욱 엄청난 사실은 마피아 일당들이 여자들을 납치한 후 스너프 필름을 찍어 미국에 팔아넘기고 있다는 것. 게다가 친구의 죽음은 미국 마피아와도 관계되어 있다는 사실을 알게된다. 우여곡절 끝에 러시아 마피아를 급습하고 그들을 일망타진한 데닐라는 앞으로 혼자 힘으로 사건을 해결하기 어렵다는 사실을 깨닫고 자신의 형에게 구원 요청을 하게 된다. 영어 한 마디 못하는 두 형제가 벌이는 미국 마피아 소탕작전은 시작되고, 사건은 시간이 지날수록 꼬이고 꼬인다. 각자 흩어져 마피아 일당을 찾기로 한 형제. 형은 경찰을 죽인 도망자 신세로, 시카고로 향하던 데닐라는 러시아 창녀와 우연한 만남으로 끝을 알 수 없는 상황으로 치닫게 된다. 약속한 날, 시카고에서 만나기로 한 두 형제의 변화된 모습에서 드러나는 것은 미국으로 대변되는 자본주의 사화에 대한 풍자라는 감독의 의도이다.(2000년 제4회 부천국제판타스틱영화제/조세진)

평생 강도질로 감옥을 드나들다 옥사한 세르게이 바그로브의 둘째 아들 다니엘라. 다니엘라는 군대에 몸담고 있다가 그만두고 할 일이 없어 집에서 논다. 어느 날 거리를 배회하다 어떤 음악에 이끌려 영화 촬영장까지 다다른다. 촬영장에서의 마찰로 경찰서까지 가게 되자 다니엘라의 엄마는 신세한탄을 하며 다니엘라에게 레닌그라드에 있는 형을 찾아가라고 한다. 형을 찾아가던 다니엘라는 노상 자판을 벌인 독일인을 건달의 손에서 구해주고 그와 친해진다. 레닌그라드에서 형을 만난 다니엘라는 암흑가의 청부업자인 형의 일을 돕기 시작하는데, 어느 새 형이 자신을 배신했다는 걸 알게 되지만 형을 용서한다. 더니엘라는 대도시에서 점점 타락해 가고 약해지는 이간 군상을 보고 회의에 빠지지만 새 삶을 결심한 듯 차를 얻어타고 음악을 들으며 모스크바로 향한다.
