홍콩의 유명한 펀드매니저 나민생(羅敏生,유청운)의 자가용에 도청장치에 있다는 것이 발견되어 경찰은 조사를 시작하게 되고 이 도청장치가 군사용도라는 사실을 알게 된다. 이에 보안과가 사건에 개입하게 되고 총감독관 하지강(何智強,고천락)이 조사한 결과 퇴역군인 사마염조(司馬念祖,오언조)가 도청자라는 걸 밝혀내고, 경찰과 범인의 쫓고 쫓기는 접전이 벌어진다. 하지강은 단순한 절도사건으로만 생각했는데 조사를 할수록 ‘지주회’라는 신비조직을 알아내게 된다. 이 ‘지주회’는 30년간 경제를 좌지우지하고 나민생과 사마염조가 ‘지주회’와 모종의 관계를 맺고 있다는 소문을 듣게 된다. 하지강은 신비조직에 가담해 나민생, 사마염조와 함께 세상을 뒤흔들 스캔들을 계획한다.

The Attractive One is a well-paced, delightful, romantic comedy. It is light, deliberately goofy, but that doesn't prevent it from being a heartwarming story of oddballs falling in love and avoiding admitting it.
