Surbook : A play with 6 characters, written to measure for Lagaf', a comedy based on this principle which consists in introducing more characters than there are places available in Lagaf"s room, gone on vacation in a dream club and which will not benefit from any percentage of defections, quite the contrary... Long live statistics!

La Carlotta (Minnie Driver) é a diva de uma conceituada companhia teatral, que é responsável pelas óperas realizadas em um imponente teatro. Temperamental, La Carlotta se irrita pela ausência de um solo na nova produção da companhia e decide abandonar os ensaios. Com a estréia marcada para o mesmo dia, os novos donos do teatro não têm outra alternativa senão aceitar a sugestão de Madame Giry (Miranda Richardson) e escalar em seu lugar a jovem Christine Daae (Emmy Rossum), que fazia parte do coral. Christine faz sucesso em sua estréia, chamando a atenção do Visconde de Chagny (Patrick Wilson), o novo patrocinador da companhia. O Visconde e Christine se conheceram ainda crianças, mas ele apenas a reconhece na encenação da ópera. Porém o que nem ele nem ninguém da companhia, com exceção de Madame Giry, sabem é que Christine tem um tutor misterioso, que acompanha nas sombras tudo o que acontece no teatro: o Fantasma da Ópera (Gérard Butler).
Chick Williams, a prohibition gangster, rejoins his mob soon after being released from prison. When a policeman is murdered during a robbery, he falls under suspicion. The gangster took Joan, a policeman's daughter, to the theater, sneaked out during the intermission to commit the crime, then used her to support his alibi. The detective squad employs its most sophisticated and barbaric techniques, including planting an undercover agent in the gang, to bring him to justice.

Linda Sinclair (Julianne Moore) é uma professora de inglês solteira, que tem 40 anos e vive na pequena cidade de Kingston. Show girl Jill Deverne is married to song writer Fred Deverne, and everyone is involved in the Broadway night life and endless parties. Jill is being pursued by a gangster, and she leaves her husband after he spends the night with a floozie. Jill ends up as the gangster's moll, but she soon gets tired of the lifestyle.
A stage-struck small-towner is tricked in backing a bad straight play, but it turns out to be a unintentional comedy hit. Problems arise, when he is sued for plagiarism.
Erik, the hypnotist Georg's assistant, is in love with Magda, Georg's fiancée, and secretly sends her roses every night. Chris, the guy delivering the flowers, who is also an amateur boxer down on his luck, takes advantage of the empty dressing room to steal the trio's bankroll, but he is caught by Georg, who is knocked out by Chris during a brief struggle.

Each reveals a different portrait of Susan: one describes her as a naive country girl who reluctantly becomes an actress, another paints a picture of a gay party girl and and the third describes a serious intellectual.
A country girl (Simone Berriau) finds work as a chorus girl in Paris, gets embroiled with a bad egg, and then finds true love with a good-looking milkman.
