A vida de Edith Piaf foi sempre uma batalha. Abandonada pela mãe, foi criada pela avó, dona de um bordel na Normandia. Dos 3 aos 7 anos de idade fica cega, recuperando-se milagrosamente. Mais tarde vive com o pai alcoólatra, a quem abandona aos 15 anos para cantar nas ruas de Paris. Em 1935 é descoberta por um dono de boate e neste mesmo ano grava seu primeiro disco. A vida sofrida é coroada com o sucesso internacional. Fama, dinheiro, amizades, mas também a constante vigilância da opinião pública.

Depois de presenciar a violenta morte de seus pais no final da Segunda Guerra, o jovem Hannibal Lecter vai para a casa de seu tio em Paris. Ao chegar lá, ele descobre que seu tio também já faleceu, porém sua viúva tia o recebe em sua casa. Thierry drops out of school to apprentice as a lion tamer at the zoo where he meets Roselyne, who shares his passion. They fall in love and when he loses his job, the young lovers journey across France finding odd jobs at several circuses. In Germany, they fall under the tutelage of ageing big cat trainer, Klint, and while they are closer to realising their dreams, they find that their success drivers them part.

As he sets off for the countryside outside Geneva a taxi-driver hears a gunshot and notices a shadowy figure slipping away from the scene. So begins a series of strange incidents.

The second installment of children's stories investigator Dr. Martin. The film has two stories:

Captain Martin from the police's child department and his colleague Kraus are called to Znojmo to help solve a case regarding stolen toys found in the town's subterranean passages. The members of the local police department are convinced that the thieves are the well-known "customers" from the Znojmo elementary school, pupils Exner and Mandlík. Martin, however, has doubts about these culprits. These doubts grow even stronger after the local self-service shop is robbed and the local tobacco store reports that it is missing a lot of imported cigarettes. Martin questions the children, inspects both shops and searches through the underground.

A group of jolly young people work in the Prague Tesla factory, also spending most of their leisure time together. One of them, guitar player Zdenek, begins to shun his friends' company. He has fallen in love with Vera, who does not belong to the group. The happy-go-lucky young man already has several acquaintances and has his own method to get a girl: to take his motorcycle, his guitar and a bottle of wine and take her to a rented houseboat. Vera, however, is different and gets angry at Zdenek. But she is fond of him and thus eventually spends a whole evening with him on the houseboat. At a preventative medical examination, the doctor tells Vera she is pregnant.
