Kenji Misumi (三隅 研次 Misumi Kenji) (2 March 1921, Kyoto, Japan - 24 September 1975) was a notable Japanese film director. He created films such as Lone Wolf and Cub and the initial film in the long-running Zatoichi (座頭市, Zatōichi) series.
He died at age 53.

Há muito tempo, houve um grande guerreiro samurai que serviu honradamente seu Xogum. O Xogum porém cresceu paranóico enquanto se tornava mais poderoso. O Xogum tentou destruir todos aqueles que podiam estar se opondo à seu Estado, e por isso ele enviou o seus ninjas espiões à casa do samurai. Os ninjas não conseguiram matá-lo, mas mataram sua amada esposa. A partir daí, o samurai jurou procurar o Xogum e vingar a morte de seu amor. O samurai viajou pelo país com seu filho fazendo trabalhos mercenários pelo dinheiro, até a batalha final com o Xogum.
Screenplay
The film follows the story of Sugi Toranosuke, a ronin, who returns to his home town of Edo many years after his attempted suicide as a sickly child. Rescued and adopted by a master swordsman, he has grown into a master swordsman and a very kind gentleman. The time is around 1868 the year that the nails were finally put into the coffin containing the feudal system that nurtured and sustained the samurai. Sugi is confused and unsure about what is happening but his teacher wants him out of the chaos of the multiple power struggles between the various clans.
