He majored in architecture in 2004 and received a master’s degree in creative documentary from Barcelona’s Pompeu Fabra University in 2012. He has been a partner at the production company TERRATREME since 2008. In 2006 he participated in a workshop on documentary filmmaking held by the Ateliers Varan in Lisbon and produced by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Since then he has been working as a director in his own films and has taken on different roles in other projects. In 2009 he worked as a trainee at the Ateliers Varan in Paris. He teaches at the DOCNOMADS - European Documentary Master Course.
He directed the following films: INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION, co-directed with Frederico Lobo (2014 - World Premiere at “Visions du Réel”, Nyon, Switzerland); GUIDED TOUR (2009 - Audience Award at Indielisboa); THE GIFT FROM AFAR (2008 – Included in the collection "So close, So far" released in DVD by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation); “GROUND GLASS I, II” (2007 – First prize at Lisbon’s Microfilms Festival); SHOW HOME (2007) and QUINTA DA CURRALEIRA (2006 – Primeiro Olhar Award at “Encontros de Cinema e Video de Viana do Castelo”).

In 1974, after years of civil war, the Portuguese and their descendants fled the colony of Angola where independentist groups gradually claimed their territory back. A tribal girl discovers love and death when her path crosses that of a young Portuguese soldier. Meanwhile, another group of Portuguese soldiers is barracked inside an infinite wall from which they will have to escape once the past comes out of the grave to claim its long-awaited justice.

A film that develops through characters who have for their antagonist life itself, with nothing (and everything) heroic about it.

They walk in pairs; they go door to door and visit the homes of those who wish to listen. They discuss matters of faith, family, demureness, religion and being. Their quest is personal, it is about proving themselves, an initiation that lasts for the two-year period they spend away from home. The Elders and the Sisters, young Mormon missionaries, leave their country, study a different language and culture and become immersed in a spirit of mission. They aspire to be role models for the perfect boys and girls.

Estado de Excepção is a documentary about CITAC (Coimbra Theater Initiation Circle), a university theater group, revealing history since it was constituted in 1956 until the aftermath of the 1974 revolution. It is the history of the theater group university and, through it, the history of theater in Portugal, revealing two remarkable decades of the History of Portugal. Through the Academy of Coimbra, the documentary reproduces student life, the position of women in society, and the change in mentalities of being and being in the world. It reproduces the existing censorship and the fight against the dictatorship, the resistance to an exhausted regime, as well as the emerging contradictions of the democratic revolution. CITAC has a heritage of 50 years of experience in Coimbra. It carries with it the possibility of the theatrical and civic formation of thinking bodies, constituting a proper ball of a possible model, generation by generation, between studies, theater, and social drama.
