São Paulo best friends Julia, Micaela and Diego enter their thirties entirely unprepared for the considerations of adult maturity. The film tells the story of Márcio, a young victim of an express kidnapping. For a mistake in a telephone call, the bad guys negotiate with Bruno, a crossword addicted. Thinking that it is just a joke, he decides to enter the "joke" and ends up surprising the kidnappers.

After 20 years of exile in Paris, Gustavo returns to his native city São Paulo. Back home, he encounters a place which no longer exists. His old friends and family members have changed, almost beyond recognition. He tries to recapture the past, and make some sense of his life, that of his friends and family, and the present state of his native country.
