On 11 March 2011, an earthquake caused a tsunami to hit the Tōhoku (Northeast) region of Japan. In this film, survivors of the tsunami rebuild as cherry blossom season begins. Between the so called restrictions of her faith and the so-called freedom of the world, Megan Hughes favors the world. Things change drastically, however, when her plane crashes on a business trip. Along with two of her co-workers -the arrogant office crush Mark Taylor, and the office nobody Chris Russell - she finds herself stranded on an island. Now isolated from civilization, Megan embarks on a journey to discover what it really means to be rescued.

住田佑一（染谷将太）、15歳。彼の願いは“普通”の大人になること。大きな夢を持たず、ただ誰にも迷惑をかけずに生きたいと考える住田は、実家の貸ボート屋に集う、震災で家を失くした大人たちと平凡な日常を送っていた。茶沢景子（二階堂ふみ）、15歳。夢は、愛する人と守り守られ生きること。他のクラスメートとは違い、大人びた雰囲気を持つ住田に恋い焦がれる彼女は、彼に猛アタックをかける。疎ましがられながらも住田との距離を縮めていけることに日々喜びを感じる茶沢。しかし、そんな2人の日常は、ある日を境に思いもよらない方向に転がり始めていく。借金を作り、蒸発していた住田の父（光石研）が戻ってきたのだ。金の無心をしながら、住田を激しく殴りつける父親。さらに、母親（渡辺真起子）もほどなく中年男と駆け落ち。住田は中学3年生にして天涯孤独の身となる。そんな住田を必死で励ます茶沢。そして、彼女の気持ちが徐々に住田の心を解きほぐしつつあるとき、“事件”は起こった……。“普通”の人生を全うすることを諦めた住田は、その日からの人生を“オマケ人生”と名付け、その目的を世の中の害悪となる“悪党”を見つけ出し、自らの手で殺すことと定める。夢と希望を諦め、深い暗闇を歩き出した少年と、ただ愛だけを信じ続ける少女。2人は、巨大な絶望を乗り越え、再び希望という名の光を見つけることができるのだろうか……。

激しい豪雨が降り続く夜、人里離れた一軒のモーテル。管理人ラリーがくつろいでいるところへ、ひとりの男が飛び込んでくる。彼、ジョージは息子ティミーを伴い、交通事故で大ケガをした妻アリスを運び込む。救助を要請しようとするが電話は不通だった。アリスをはねたのは女優キャロラインの運転手で元警官のエド。彼は病院へ向け車を走らせるが、途中で立ち往生し、やむなくモーテルへ引き返すことに…。ある時、ある一室で、既に死刑判決の下った事件について再審理が行われようとしている。ポイントとなっているのは、その事件の連続殺人犯である囚人が書いた日記だった。

A plane leaving the turmoil of a South American country in the midst of a revolution crash-lands in the Amazon jungle in Brazil. Among the passengers are a corrupt banker who is smuggling diamonds out of the country, a reporter, a mysterious beauty and a shady flight attendant. The survivors find themselves up against not only the dangers of the jungle itself but a band of headhunters and a gang of revolutionaries who are looking for the smuggled diamonds.
