1963年のテキサスを舞台に、犯罪者と幼い少年の心の絆を描いたヒューマン・ドラマ。刑務所を脱走したブッチと相棒は、フィリップという八歳の少年を人質にとって逃避行をつづけていた。だが相棒が少年をレイプしようとしたとたん、ブッチは相棒を射殺してしまう。それ以来フィリップは、死んだ父の姿をブッチに重ねて見るのだった……。
