The fifth and final installment with the build up of the epic battle between Sasaki Kojiro and Miyamoto Musashi. With all the familiar characters making appearances: Otsu (Musashi's great love), Akemi, Matahachi (his former fellow soldier), old lady Osugi (still doggedly trying to defeat Musashi), and even the return of Priest Takuan (the man responsible for his journey towards enlightenment). But most of all, the boastful, long-haired and long-sworded Sasaki Kojiro.

떠돌이 무사 칸베이는 길 가던 여자들을 겁탈하려다 위기에 처한 동료들을 구하기 위해 살인을 하게 된다. 그는 어린 아들을 유모차에 태우고 방랑하는 자객 오가미 잇토와 우연히 만나 결투를 신청하지만 오가미로부터 진정한 무사를 살려두고 싶다는 말을 듣는다. 오가미는 어느날, 여관에서 유곽에 팔려가던 중 겁탈하려는 중개인을 죽이고 자신의 방으로 도망온 소녀 오마츠를 구해주기 위해 망팔자들에게 끝까지 저항한다. 망팔자의 우두머리로 가케가와번의 필두 가로였던 미우라 다케와키의 딸 토리조는 오가미가 범상치 않은 무사임을 직감하고, 번을 팔아 권력을 손에 넣은 사와타리 겐바에게 청부살인을 의뢰한다. 한편 로쥬 이타쿠라 나이젠노쇼를 꼬드겨 권력을 손에 쥔 사와타리는 다시 로쥬를 살해하려 오가미에서 살인을 청부하나 거절당하자 오가미를 죽이기 위해 대규모의 군사를 동원한다. 그러나 오가미는 혼자서 군사 수백명의 활과 총을 물리친다.

오가미 이토는 한때 누구도 당해내지 못하는 최고의 검술 실력을 자랑했지만, 지금은 반역자의 누명을 쓰고 야기유 가문에게 쫓기고 있는 신세다. 그것도 어린 아들을 동반한 채. 두 당 500냥을 받으며 비정한 자객의 삶을 살아가는 그에게 어느날, 아와 지방으로부터 암살 의뢰가 들어온다. 옷감에 쪽빛을 내는 비법으로 고소득을 올리고 있는 아와 지방. 막부는 이 아와 지방의 염료 수익에 눈독을 들여 그들의 이익을 착취하려고 한다. 그리하여 막부는 쪽의 재배 비결을 알고 있는 아와의 명주 마쿠야를 납치할 요량으로 무사 삼인방 벤, 덴, 라이를 보낸다. 형제로 구성된 이 삼인방은 가공할만한 검술 실력을 자랑하고 있어 천하에 두려울 것이 없는 야기유 일가조차도 맞서기를 주저할 정도로 흉폭하고 잔혹하기 짝이 없는 이들이다. 그리고 아와 지방으로부터 의뢰를 받은 비운의 검객, 이토가 바로 이 삼형제의 마쿠야를 없애야 하는 것이다. 그러나 이토 역시 야기유의 추적을 받고 있기 때문에 삼형제를 대적하기 앞서 야기유의 닌자를 따돌려야하는 위기에 놓인다.

A man gets rid of a cheap pot without knowing it contains a map to a treasure. As word spreads, many join in hunting it.
In this first episode, we are introduced to Takezo, what Musashi used to be before he became the man of legend. His beginning are not exactly auspicious. He sides with the Toyotomi at Sekigahara, and as a result finds himself on the losing side of the historic battle. He and his friend Matahachi manage to escape the slaughter although the latter is wounded in his leg. They stumble across the young Akemi who makes her living with her mother Oko by robbing corpses of their armor and anything else they can sell. Oko takes it into her head to seduce Matahachi, which she does first by skillfully sucking the gangrene from his blood, and then just by sucking.
Nagasaki at the end of the Edo period had the taste of a criminal paradise, where, despite the exotic, dangerous work was always in demand. Here, three wandering samurai who earn their living by killing get to know each other. Soon they learn that government officials will be transporting a large cargo of gold and decide to steal it.

Set during the last days of the Tokugawa (Edo) Period, Moeyo-ken tells the story of Hijikata Toshizo and the Shinsengumi. Hijikata Toshizo is a samurai eager to test his skills and sword and make his first kill. The dojo he belongs to practices the Tennen Rishin style and teaches this to farmers. Not considered real samurai by other dojo's, they receive a request for a duel by a rival dojo practicing the Kogen Itto style. Sohaku Rokusha, a teacher there, challenges them and fights with Hijikata Toshizo. The outcome of the fight creates a deadly animosity between them that lasts through the ages.
