부부 갈등이 생긴 트리나, 댄 커플에 대한 이야기이다. 갈등은 여전히 해결되지 않았지만, 곧 임종을 맞이할 것 같은 아버지를 뵈러 같이 같이 차를 몰고 나간다. 하지만 가던 도로 위에 바리케이트가 쳐져 있어, 모든 차량이 우회하게 된다. 운전에 지친 댄은 우회해서 가면 한 시간이 더 걸린다는 것에 짜증이 나, 결국 험한 지름길을 택한다. 엎친 데 겹친 격으로 차는 갑자기 고장 나고, 이때 게모라는 맨발의 이상한 남자를 우연히 만나, 그의 집으로 초대를 받는다. 게모의 집에는 그의 어린 아내 라라가 있었다. 게모는 이 커플의 사적인 부분까지 집요하게 캐묻고, 그들은 뭔가 이상하다는 것을 깨닫게 된다.
