Long ago, the inhabitants of the fairyland drove the evil witch Vergilda into our world and imprisoned her in the Magic Cup, where she languished for 500 years, until the workers of the children's camp, preparing for the New Year, found it and accidentally opened it. This is a poetic film set in the times of Lenin's NEP. A ballet dancer steals a brooch and gives it as a present to another dancer. This is a crime of passion. A mysterious black ball is after the heroine. She runs away from it and manages to give the brooch in an exquisite pirouette movement, as shiny as diamond facets. What gives a stone its dazzling luster are its polished facets. But the real gem is love, and it's much harder to get than any diamond in the world.

At a large house a lawyer is holed up, police are in the front garden, snipers on the roof and the lawyer asks for Marina. She’s a little surprised by this as she and the lawyer have only crossed paths a few times during her career, but agrees to go to the lawyers house. Arriving at the house she’s confronted by the large police presence, she’s given a quick debrief of the situation and requested not to go into the house. She declines and enters the house. Just inside the front door is the lawyers wife, she tell Marina that he’s lost it and locked the children in their rooms and that he’s going to kill them all.

In order to justify himself to the bigwigs of the criminal world, a young "gentleman of street luck", a former orphanage April is forced to take from the "godfather" of the mafia order to eliminate the two individuals who allegedly framed him. At the same time, one of the "targets" of April — confused in his relationship with crime businessman Vova — and he must save his life by agreeing to a very dangerous and questionable case. Naturally at one point their way — the roads intersect, but at the wrong time and in the most unexpected place.
