Shadow Realm is a compilation of four episodes of the short-lived Fox Network television series Night Visions. Each episode contained two stories and were originally hosted by musician/actor/writer Henry Rollins. The Sci-Fi Channel acquired the rights to broadcast the episodes, including the last two unaired episodes and strung them together as an anthology movie. Title sequences and end credits were changed and the Henry Rollins introductions were removed from the final product.

Originalmente cuatro OVAs distribuidas en Japón, esta película es fruto de una fusión producida por Fox Kids de las películas originales, que duraban 40 minutos. Se utilizo una voz en off para unir las historias, y se eliminaron numerosas escenas para acortar la duración de las historias. La primera historia se centra en Tai y Kari Kamiya. Muestra su primer encuentro con un Digimon y lo que pasó con los niños elegidos. La segunda historia transcurre tras los sucesos de la serie original. Diaboromon es un malvado Digimon que está a punto de alcanzar su evolución máxima, alimentándose de los datos que circulan por las redes digitales de telecomunicaciones. La tercera historia esta representada con el estilo de dibujo de la secuela de Digimon, Digimon 02 y originalmente eran dos peliculas. Transcurre tras los sucesos de Digimon 02, y trata sobre un viaje de Kari Kamiya y Takeru Takaishi a EEUU, donde deberán averiguar la verdad acerca de un digimon que les ataca.

The DVD features videos from the band's two previous music video compilations, The Best of 1980–1990 and The Best of 1990–2000, as well as several videos that have never been previously released.
