런던 1893년. 집필가, 발명자, 미래학자로서 활약 중인 젊은 H.G.웰즈(H. G. Wells: 말콤 맥도웰 분)가 신발명의 타임머신을 친구들에게 빼앗긴다. 그 중에는 챤스에 강한 파트너인 스티븐슨 의사가 가세하고 있다. 누구도 타임머신의 성능을 믿지못하고 기계를 바라보고 있지만 가정부가 경관의 방문을 알려왔다. 근처에서 한 창녀가 시체로 발견이 되고 이로 인해 한집 한집 탐문수사를 펴고 있었다. 그러나 범인은 미래로 도망가고 스티븐슨의 검진 가방에 피가 묻어 있어 경찰들은 그를 범인으로 판단하고, 이를 피하기 위해 스티븐슨은 타임머신으로 미래로 도망간다. 이곳은 1979년 샌프란시스코, 스티븐슨은 과거와 미래의 사이에서 방황하게 된다.

전작의 엔딩에서 악령들이 득실거리는 밀랍 인형 박물관을 불타오르고 주인공 마크와 세라는 모든 일이 끝났다고 안심하며 집으로 돌아가지만 그 둘이 모르는 사이에 스스로 움직이는 사람의 잘린 손(?) 악령이 박물관을 빠져나와, 세라의 집까지 쫓아가서는 그녀의 계부를 망치로 때려죽이는데 정작 피해자인 세라가 아버지 살인의 누명을 쓰면서 그 모든 오해를 풀기 위해 다시 차원을 넘어 시간을 뛰어넘는 여행을 하면서 벌어지는 이야기

희대의 연쇄 살인마 ‘잭 더 리퍼’는 런던 화이트 채플 지역에서 매춘부들 살해하고 달아난 인물이다. 셜록 홈즈와 그의 친구이자 조수인 왓슨 박사가 이 사건을 맡게 되는데 병리학적 연구를 통해 홈즈는 살인마가 외과 의사와 비견될 정도로 의술에 능한 자라는 사실을 알게 된다. 그리하여 여러 증거들을 통해 의학을 공부하다 매춘부와 결혼한 뒤 자취를 감춘 한 귀족의 아들을 범인으로 의심한다. 홈즈는 빈민가에서 조사를 하던 중 경찰 외과의로 근무하는 저명한 사회주의자인 머레이 박사가 런던의 가난한 자들에게 생필품을 공급하려 최선을 다하고 있다는 걸 발견한다. 그는 용의자 명단에 머레이 박사와 그의 조수 샐리 영, 술집 주인이자 집배원인 맥스 스타이너를 올린다. 피할 수 없는 마지막 대결을 통해 살인범은 정체를 드러내는데....

Lulu models for a young painter who tries to seduce her. When her husband enters the room he dies from a heart attack. Lulu marries the painter, who commits suicide when he finds out that she has been having a long standing affair with Dr Schon and whose son gives her a job. Lulu kills Dr Schon and goes to London to live with his son. Eventually, she becomes a prostitute and dies a victim of Jack the Ripper.

London, 1888: on the night of the third Jack the Ripper killing, soft-spoken Mr. Slade, a research pathologist, takes lodgings with the Harleys, including a gloomy attic room for "experiments." Mrs. Harley finds Slade odd and increasingly suspects the worst; her niece Lily (star of a decidedly Parisian stage revue) finds him interesting and increasingly attractive. Is Lily in danger, or are her mother's suspicions merely a red herring?

의학박사 헨리(Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde: 안소니 퍼킨스 분)는 런던의 저명한 외과의사로로 아름다운 부인 엘리자베스(Elisabeth Jekyll: 그리니스 바바 분)와 행복하게 살고 있다. 부작용 없는 마취제 개발에 전념하던 그는 어느날 복용하면 도취감에 빠지며 환각 상태에서 성격이 격변하는 약제 개발에 성공한다. 그 무렵 창녀를 예리한 칼로 난자하는 연쇄 살인 사건이 발생해 런던 전체가 공포에 떨고, 뉴코먼(Newcomen: 레이 제워스 분) 형사는 범인 체포에 혈안이 된다. 새 마취제를 먹고 환각에 빠진 헨리가 저지른 일이다. 엘리자베스는 밤마다 집을 비우는 남편을 의심하게 되고, 경찰은 범행 수법으로 미루어 지킬 박사를 의심하기 시작한다. 창부 스잔나(Susannah: 사라 모어 쏩 분)의 아파트에서 중성인 조니(Johnny: 벤 콜 분)와 함께 환각 상태로 도착된 성유희를 하는 헨리 앞에 남편을 추적한 엘리자베스가 들이닥친다. 조니가 엘리자베스를 죽이려 하자 헨리는 조니를 죽이고, 그녀는 간신히 집으로 도망친다. 그러나 집에 돌아온 헨리는 난폭하게 실험실을 파괴하고 엘리자베스를 살해한다. 그리고는 형사 뉴코먼에게 다른 흉악범이 아내를 살해한 것처럼 이야기 하고, 뉴코몬은 범인을 꼭 잡을 것이라고 다짐한다.
