1923년 여름 플로리다의 로즈우드라는 마을에서 한 백인 여성이 흑인에게 자신을 폭행을 당했다는 폭로를 한다. 분노한 백인들은 마을의 흑인들을 무참히 총살한다. 평화롭던 마을이 갑자기 지옥으로 변해버리자 흑인들은 살아남기 위해 집을 버리고 숨거나 도망치게 된다. 결국 온통 불길에 휩싸이게 된 로즈우드. 이때 마을 백인 주민 존(John Wright: 존 보이트 분)과 흑인 재향 군인 만(Mann: 빙 레임즈 분)이 목숨을 걸고 구조하여 다 쓰러져 가는 화염 속에서 부녀자들과 아이들을 구해낸다. 하지만 후에 사건을 조사한 결과, 폭로를 한 여성은 남편 몰래 다른 백인(로버트 패트릭 분)과 바람을 피우다 그에게 폭행을 당한 것이었고 이것을 숨기기 위해 흑인이 자신을 폭행했다고 거짓을 말한 것이 밝혀졌다.

미무라 신노죠는 쇼군의 밥에 독이 있는지 검사하는 '독미(毒味)' 사무라이다. 그는 자신이 하는 일에 회의를 느끼고, 동네 아이들에게 검술을 가르치는 일을 하고 싶다는 꿈을 꾸고 있다. 하지만, 어느 날 신노죠는 독미관을 하는 도중 독을 먹고 심한 열병을 앓다 깨어난다. 그리고 시력을 잃게 된다. 신노죠를 걱정한 아내 카요는 신노죠의 앞으로의 일을 부탁하기 위해서 마을의 고관 시마다를 찾아지만 시마다는 그녀의 부탁을 들어주는 대신 그녀에게 반강제적인 성상납을 강요하고, 이를 오해한 신노죠는 아내와 이혼을 하기에 이른다. 하지만 이후 썩어빠진 고위간부가 아내를 농락했다는 사실을 알게 된 신노죠는 시마다에게 결투장을 보내게 되는데.

독립운동 단체에서 활동하는 정직은 일본군과 마찰이 일어나 도망치다가 루이 신부가 있는 성당에 몸을 숨긴다. 그 성당은 독립 단체의 수장 이준동이 일본군의 수배를 피해서 정원사로 위장해 숨어 있던 곳이었고 제자 정직으로 인해 일본군에게 이준동의 정체도 발각이 된다.

Meier, a paperhanger in East Berlin, inherits from his father in West Berlin. With this money he wants to fulfil himself the dream of his life: a journey around the world. He buys a forged West German passport and pretends to go on a trip to Bulgaria while he really is off to see the free world. When he wants to return to East Berlin he finds himself in an unbelievable predicament and his double life begins. He can't keep away from his East German friends. As with all the best comedies, the action builds up to an eventual crisis. It's a light comedy, which won several national Film Academy Awards. The film is very political, with lots of political jokes/innuendos which only Germans will understand. One is left feeling what a total obscenity that stupid Wall was, dividing one people for 30 years (1-2 Generations) simply by the coincidence on where you just happen to be in the early morning on the 13th August 1961.

The film is a historical melodrama about a high government official who wants to marry a woman who is engaged to marry another man.

1945년 8월 서울. 독립운동을 하다 일제의 앞잡이 남부의 배반으로 체포되어 감옥에 있던 한중은 탈출에 성공하여 대학병원 간호부 혜자의 집으로 숨어든다. 한중의 지하조직은 예정대로 무장봉기를 일으키기 위해 준비하던 중 박이 다이너마이트를 가지고 오다 일본 헌병에 잡히고, 한중은 박을 구출하고 남부의 애인인 미향의 아파트로 피신한다. 한중을 숨겨준 미향은 그에게 매료되어 한중의 지하조직이 있는 지하실로 찾아가 정보와 자금을 전달한다. 그 뒤를 밟은 남부와 현병들에 의해 미향은 총에 맞아 죽고, 한중은 총상으로 대학병원으로 옮겨진다. 한중을 사모하던 혜자는 헌병이 잠든 틈을 타 그를 탈출시킨다.
