Oasis (1955)

폐허를 방황하던 맥스는 자신의 짐을 훔쳐간 헬기 조종사를 쫓던중 뜻밖에 문명이 존재하는 바타타운이라는 도시에 들어가게 된다. 도시에서 소동을 일으키다 잡힌 맥스에게 도시의 지배자인 여왕 엔티 엔티티는 자신의 조건을 들어주면 짐을 찾아주겠다고 제안한다. 그 조건은 바로 도시의 지하에 있는 블라스터라는 거인을 해치우라는 것. 이 도시의 에너지원은 지하의 메탄 가스에서 만들어지고 있는데, 이곳의 발전기를 다루는 마스터가 호위 격인 블라스터를 믿고 여왕에게 모욕을 주었기 때문이다. 맥스는 블라스터와의 싸움을 준비하고, 고전 끝에 그를 제압하는 데에 성공한다. 하지만 차마 그를 죽이지 못하고, 여왕은 맥스를 사막으로 추방해 버리는데...

남편을 잃은 체시라는 딸 로제타를 홀로 키운다. 2차 대전 중 연합군의 폭격을 피해 체시라는 딸과 함께 로마를 떠나 고향으로 피난을 간다. 고향에서 만난 파시즘에 반대하는 젊은 지식인인 미켈레는 모녀에게 연민을 느끼고, 로제타는 그를 마치 아버지처럼 믿고 따른다. 얼마 후, 미켈레는 철수하는 독일군에게 끌려가게 되고 모녀는 로마의 집으로 돌아가기로 하는데...

1차 대전이 한창인 무렵의 메소포타미아. 이곳을 지나던 영국 사막정찰대의 지휘관이 아랍저격병에 의해 살해된다. 지휘관을 대신하게 된 하사관은 대원들을 이끌고 가까스로 오아시스에 도착한다. 그는 병사들에게 죽은 지휘관으로부터 부대의 임무와 목적지에 대해 전해 들은 바 없으며 심지어 현 위치 및 앞으로 가야 할 방향 조차 알지 못한다고 털어놓는다. 보초를 서던 신병 하나가 시체로 발견된 데 이어 적의 위치를 살피기 위해 나무에 올라갔던 병사마저 총에 맞고 떨어진다. 집단으로 버티다가는 살 수 없다고 판단한 하사관은 원군을 청하기 위해 병사들을 선발해 은밀히 보낸다. 그러나 그들 모두 싸늘한 시신으로 발견되고, 이들의 죽음을 앙갚음하기 위해 뛰어들었던 대원들 또한 적병들에게 노출되며 차례로 쓰러지는데...
