좋은 직장, 좋은 집, 그리고 멋진 아이들까지 모든 것이 완벽하게 이뤄져가는 삶을 산다고 생각했던 칼(스티브 카렐)은 아내 에밀리(줄리안 무어)의 이혼 선언에 모든 것이 무너지는 것을 알게 된다. 충격을 다 잡을틈도 없이 짐을 싸 집을 나온 그는 술집에서 여자를 유혹하는 모든 기술을 가진 잘 나가는 30대 제이콥(라이언 고슬링)을 만나게 된다. 칼을 안쓰럽게 여긴 제이콥은 그에게 모든 기술을 전수해 주고, 그는 중년 차도남으로 거듭난다. 그러면서 전에 없던 새로운 경험과 아내의 소중함, 그리고 가족에 대해서 다시 돌아보게 되는데...

잭은 친구인 쿠엔틴, 쿠엔틴의 동생 조와 함께 캠핑을 즐긴다. 맥주를 마시던 중, 시계가 13시 13분으로 맞춰져 있는 것을 발견한다. 누군가의 장난인 줄 알았지만 시계나 온도계의 숫자가 13, 13으로 바뀌는 일이 계속해서 발생한다. 일행은 잭의 전처와 딸 켄드라가 살고 있는 집을 방문하는데 전처가 자살을 시도하자 잭은 앰뷸런스를 불러 함께 병원으로 간다. 그러나 기이한 일들은 병원에서도 계속된다. 사람들이 모두 폭력적으로 변해 서로 싸우고 죽이면서 잭도 공격의 대상이 된다. 이때 위험에 빠진 잭을 구해주는 캔디스. 잭과 캔디스는 윤년에 태어났다는 공통점이 있다. 두 사람은 가까스로 병원을 빠져나와 잭의 집으로 가지만 딸 켄드라와 잭은 친구들은 모두 감염되어 극심한 폭력성을 보이며 이들을 공격한다. 가족과 친구를 모두 잃은 잭과 캔디스는 슬픔과 고통 속에서 다른 도시를 찾아 떠난다.

The story revolves around Joëlle and Kamel Mrabti, key members of staff for Montfermeil's new mayor, Emmanuelle Joly—but the couple is also in the process of divorcing. The whole staff is working together on the implementation of a wacky new policy that features the creation of the Montfermeil Intensive School of Languages, where seven of the 62 languages spoken in this town on the outskirts of Paris will be taught. The policy is a great success and effectively revitalises the town, but life is no less complicated for the mayor's staff. Joëlle and Kamel are at war with each other and are each in love with mysterious blind dates. Shadowy traitors in the administration are seeking to sabotage Ms Joly's good work. Suspicions fall on Kamel.

A powerful and secretive corporation is conducting underground psychic experiments utilizing Digital Direct Drive, otherwise known as DDD. While under the influence of the drug ether, the human subjects are outfitted in rubber suits and bombarded with DDD with extremely intense sound. Though the experiments are successful in unleashing psychic powers in the test subjects, the results are usually fatal. As a result, the corporation attempts to shut down the experiments against the wishes of Motomiya and Hitotsubashi who are in charge of the research. In a desperate attempt to salvage their work, the two researchers take over the lab and hold an innocent secretary hostage while they transform their fellow researcher into an ether addict and use him as the final human guinea pig for their experiments. The result has to be seen to be believed as his psychic powers are unleashed in a wave of ferocity that will leave you breathless.

Three young people arrive from different parts of the country to go to college in Sao Paulo. On their first day there, a strange and intense attraction unites them. Together, they rent an apartment and begin living together, in close quarters. Sharing kisses and fond embraces. One among the few sci-fi movies in Malayalam, 'Bharathan Effect' tells the story of Bharathan (Biju Menon) who is a genius inventor struggling to make ends meet. His efforts are under appreciated by his wife Geetha (Geethu Mohandas) and causes constant conflict between them. After apparently seeing an object float in air defying gravity; Bharathan gets obsessed by the whole idea. He tries to research the topic with the financial assistance of his landlord (Jagathy Sreekumar) despite the entire community branding him as a lunatic. The rest of the film deals with his quest to find the truth behind the strange phenomenon of anti-gravity that he witnesses.

Considered insane, he is admitted to a mental hospital. Here, he is always rowdy and stirs things up. Most of the film is used to exploit the craziness of the hospital. James finally escapes.
