A young Russian aristocrat, Baron Fyodor Jeremin, volunteers to serve with a Dragon squadron to impress the girl who rejected his love. Just at this time the 1863 insurrection explodes in Poland. He enlists to serve in the army being sent to suppress the revolt. He believes that now it's enough to defeat the Poles, become an officer and hero, get a bunch of medals, and then return and lay all of this at the feet of her beloved. However, the "little Polish war" looks completely different to the way that young Jeremin imagined it to be. In course of time, he learns to be on the wrong side. But there is no escape - he must kill or he will be killed. What's more, he falls in love with a beautiful Polish girl...

The action is set in the early 20th century. The film is made up of six sequences. In the first, Michal, young man who came from Poland to Germany, enrolls in a course on how to behave in social situations and on etiquette. However when he tries to approach girls using the rules which he's been taught... he only makes a fool of himself. Then, he goes to work for a man who owns a carousel and who loves to chase other women. In the next sequence, Michal meets the divorced landlady, Mrs. Luther, and goes through a whole lot of erotic experiences. When he escapes exhausted from his landlady, he starts working in a mine and visits brothels on a regular basis. He looks on women in a totally cynical manner. However, his persistent wandering must finally result in a true love.

2차대전중 나치 치하에서 살아남기 위해 출생을 가장해야 했던 유태인 소년의 실제 있었던 생존기를 치밀하게 그려낸 작품이다. 평범한 소년 솔로몬(마르코 호르슈나이더)은 독일의 유태인 탄압으로 가족과 함께 폴란드로 이주한다. 하지만 독일군이 폴란드까지 밀고 들어오자 솔리와 형만이 안전한 곳으로 피난을 간다. 피난 도중 어린 솔로몬은 형을 놓치고 홀로 남게 된다. 이때부터 솔로몬의 생존을 위한 노력이 시작된다. 소련령 고아원에 들어간 솔로몬은 "스탈린"을 외침으로써 살아남고 독일군에게 잡혔을 때는 독일인으로 위장하여 인정을 받는다. 훌륭한 독일 군인으로 청년나치학교에 보내진 솔로몬은 그 안에서도 두각을 보이는 학생으로 활동한다. 하지만 솔로몬은 유태인이고 유태인을 죽이는 훈련을 거듭하는 나치학생들 속에서 솔로몬은 갈등을 겪게 된다. 그 와중에 연합군과 독일군 전투에 배치된 솔로몬은 연합군에게 항복한다. 연합군이 유태인이라는 솔로몬의 말을 믿어주지 않아 죽게 되었을 때 그곳에서 잃어버렸던 형을 만나 살아남게 된다.

Also arriving is the censor, a man reaching his fifties, a one-time literary critic and journalist. The line between fiction and reality begins to blur...

Difficulty of human relations in a 3-cornered tale: a neurotic woman, idealistic young man and his mother. Tomek is a clean-cut, high-minded geography student. He lives with his mother Zofia, a sensitive, practicing Catholic, like her son. When he meets Julia, a depressed woman older than he, he first tries to comfort her, then invites her to stay with him and his mother. Tomek makes a trip to West Berlin to visit his well-off father. He refuses to take money from him and looks for work as a house painter. Julia ends up in a rest home for treatment, while Tomek is trying to make their relationship work.

중년의 여인 에바는 다섯 살 난 손녀 앙카를 사랑으로 키우고 있다. 그런데 그동안 어떤 사정 때문에 앙카를 키우지 못했던 친어머니 마이카가 나타나 앙카를 ‘유괴’하려 한다. 한편 손녀를 사랑하는 에바는 선뜻 딸에게 앙카를 맡기지 못한다.

우체국에서 일하는 토멕은 같은 동네에 살고 있는 연상의 여인 막다에게 사랑을 느낀다. 막다를 몰래 지켜보던 토멕은 자신의 마음을 고백하기로 하지만, 이는 예상 못한 결과를 불러 온다.

어두운 내면을 가진 청년 야첵은 도시를 헤매다가 별 이유 없이 택시 운전사를 잔인하게 살해한다. 이후 사형을 선고받은 야첵은 변호사 표트르와 함께 재판정에 선다.

대학생 앙카는 아버지 미할이 숨겨두었던 돌아가신 어머니의 편지를 발견한다. 이 편지를 읽은 앙카는 미할이 자신의 친아버지가 아니란 사실을 뒤늦게 알게 된다. 앙카는 이 문제를 두고 미할과 길고 진지한 대화를 나눈다.

택시 기사인 자누시는 크리스마스 이브를 맞아 가족들과 함께 성탄 예배를 드리러 간다. 그런데 자누시는 예배당에서 몇 년 전 바람을 피웠던 상대인 에바를 만나고, 자누시에게 어떤 부탁을 한다.

외롭게 살고 있는 노년의 의사에게 이웃집의 도로타가 찾아온다. 도로타는 현재 병원에서 투병 중인 자신의 남편이 살아날 가능성이 얼마나 되는지 물어본다. 신중한 의사가 확답을 주저하자 도로타는 자신의 사연을 솔직히 털어놓는다.

신의 존재를 믿지 않는 대학 교수 크지쉬토프는 12살 난 영특한 아들 파벨과 함께 살고 있다. 어느 날 파벨은 신의 존재에 관한 의문을 갖고, 크지쉬토프는 이를 어떻게 설명해줄지 고민한다.

One of the passengers on a ship carrying Poles on a cruise in December 1981 is a dissident high school teacher sent abroad by Solidarity. He is under surveillance of the secret police, anxious to get their hands on the info that he is carrying. When the ship is in the middle of the Baltic sea, martial law is declared and the ship is militarized. The captain announces he will turn and return the home port. Many anguished passengers put the life vests on and jump into the sea, where they are picked up by two German ships. The teacher, however, decides to return to Poland and continue the struggle for freedom.

수줍음 많은 우체국 직원인 도메크는 맞은편 아파트에 사는 연상의 독신녀 마그다를 망원경으로 몰래 훔쳐보며 사랑을 느낀다. 마그다를 진심으로 사랑하게 된 도메크는 그녀의 아파트에 우유를 배달하고, 가짜 송금표를 만들어 그녀를 우체국으로 오게 하고, 마그다의 편지를 몰래 훔치고, 마그다가 사랑을 나눌 때 가스 고장 신고를 하는 등, 항상 그녀의 곁을 맴돈다. 그러던 어느 날 자신이 보낸 통지서를 가지고 송금을 받으로 온 마그다가 오히려 송금을 조작했다는 누명을 뒤집어쓰고 우체국을 나서는 것을 보게 되는데...

바르샤바 특유의 회색빛 거리를 배회하며 방황하는 고독한 시골 청년 야체크는 자신의 최후의 무대를 연출할 사람을 찾아 나선다. 드디어 청년은 택시를 타고 도시의 외곽을 달린다. 그리고 이유없는 살인이 벌어지고 그는 곧 체포되어 재판에 회부된다. 한편 변호사 피토르는 변호사 시험에 합격한 후 첫 업무로 야체크를 위해 사형 폐지론을 주장하며 변론을 편다.

The protagonist of this drama series is Rafał Michalski. After graduating from vocational school, he tries to pass to a technical school. It fails. Takes a job in a car factory - in a locksmith shop. The shy boy becomes the object of his friends' jokes. She also finds no support in the family - her mother is busy running the house, her sister is preparing for her exams for studies, and her father has an absorbing job. At work, Rafał meets the nice Hanka. Maybe friendship with her will turn into a deeper feeling?

Set during the insurgency of 1863, the story focuses on a tragic romance between a poor gentlewoman and a rebel noble. After a bloody battle a unit of insurgents have been wiped out and only one survived, but badly wounded. He eventually finds shelter and care from a landsteward's daughter, hiding in a burned-out manor with an old servant.

A famous surgeon is beaten by drunken bullies, loses his memory and cannot recollect who he was before. He gets to a village, lives in a not so well to do family and becomes the Quack - he slowly regains his talent for medicine and saves the lives of several village patients.

이 영화는 1980년대 말 폴란드의 공산정권을 붕괴시킨 거대한 자유노조운동에 대한 이야기이다. 속편에 등장했던 다큐멘터리 감독 아그니에츠카(크리스티나 잔다 분)가 다시 모습을 드러내는데 그녀는 폴란드 노동자의 영웅이었던 비르쿠트의 아들 마테우시(예르지 래드지빌로빅츠 분)의 아내가 되어있다. 마테우시는 1980년 그단스크에서 발생한 파업에서 자유노조운동에 앞선 주동자로, 지식인들이 노조에 가입하도록 설득한다. 영화는 가까운 미래의 화면과 그단스크의 새로운 파업을 교차로 보여줌으로써 결과에 대한 예상과 함께 기대를 하게 한다.

A two-part historical film covering the years of the First World War and the post-war period up to 1919 - until the signing of the peace treaty in Versailles near Paris. An attempt to show the great and complicated process of regaining an independent existence by a nation within its own state. The screen shows characters from history textbooks: Józef Piłsudski, Ignacy Paderewski, Roman Dmowski, Wojciech Korfanty as well as representatives of the world political scene, incl. David Lloyd George, Woodrow Wilson, Georges Clemenceau, Vladimir Lenin and others.
