O Direito de Matar (1950)

Após considerar que uma grande empresa é a culpada pela morte de seu marido, uma viúva decide entrar com um processo na justiça, pedindo uma indenização milionária. Para defendê-la ela contrata o advogado Wendell Fohr (Dustin Hoffman). Porém Fohr precisará enfrentar Rankin Fitch (Gene Hackman), um especialista em selecionar os jurados de forma a garantir de antemão sua vitória no julgamento. Porém o que Fohr e Fitch não contavam é que um dos jurados, Nicholas Easter (John Cusack), tem seus planos para manipular o júri. E, com o apoio de Marlee (Rachel Weisz), passa a chantagear a dupla avisando que o veredicto desejado sairá bastante caro.
