Mr. Freedom, a bellowing good-ol'-boy superhero decked out in copious football padding, jets to France to cut off a Commie invasion from Switzerland. A destructive, arrogant patriot in tight pants, Freedom joins forces with Marie Madeleine to combat lefty freethinkers, as well as the insidious evildoers Moujik Man and inflatable Red China Man, culminating in a star-spangled showdown.

성공을 위해서는 뭐든지 하는 워커홀릭이자 출세 지향주의자인 ‘카티야’는 광고회사에 근무하는 세일즈 우먼이다. 아름다운 외모와 일에 대한 열정, 그리고 광고를 따내기 위해서는 수단과 방법을 가리지 않는 전투적인 자세는 그녀를 직장에서 승승장구하게 만든다. 어느 날, 같은 빌딩에서 근무하는 ‘찰스’라는 남자와 우연히 엘리베이터를 함께 타게 되고 그들은 서로에게 한눈에 호감을 느낀다. 그 후로도 여러 번 엘리베이터에서 ‘찰스’와 마주치게 되고 마침내 그는 ‘카티야’에게 정식으로 데이트를 신청한다. 첫 데이트에서 서로 너무나 말이 잘 통했던 그들은 속옷차림으로 광장 한가운데 있는 분수에서 왈츠를 춘다. 하지만 ‘찰스’를 사랑하게 되면서 모든 것의 중심이었던 성공을 향한 의지에 조금씩 균열이 생기고 있음을 깨닫는다. 그녀에게 사랑은 그저 성공을 방해하는 귀찮은 감정의 낭비인 것일까?

The main character "Afonya" Borshev is a plumber, who spends his life partying with "buddies", many of whom he doesn't even remember after nights of heavy drinking. His wife leaves him, his boss places him on probation, his whole life is falling apart, but he doesn't realize it. Afonya met Katya at a dance club, yet didn't pay her much attention. But she is the one, who can save him... In this movie Daneliya achieves a perfect balance of satire and drama. Quotes from the movie gained a cult status in USSR.
