시놉시스
유독 보라색을 좋아하는 고3 유니는 대학입시를 준비하고 있다. 시골 어느 집이나 그렇듯 넉넉지 않은 집안 살림에 원하는 공부를 계속하기 위해서는 장학금을 받는 것이 중요하다. 마음에 드는 보라색 물건이 있으면 도둑질도 서슴지 않는 그녀는, 유일하게 어려워하는 과목인 문학 성적을 올리기 위해 자신을 짝사랑하는 친구에게 시쓰기 숙제를 부탁하기도 한다. 얼굴도 예쁘장하고 성적도 곧잘 나오는 유니를 눈여겨보는 남자들은 학교 밖에도 많고, 그녀가 졸업하기도 전에 청혼을 하기 시작한다. 그녀 주변에는 이미 결혼한 친구들도 있지만 자신이 원하는 것이 무엇인지는 아직 정확히 알 수 없다. 남자들의 청혼을 거절하자 작은 동네에는 안 좋은 소문이 돌기 시작한다. 제니퍼(종초홍 분)는 남자 친구인 빈센트와 함께 미국 유학길에 오르고, 먼 친척인 선장(뱃머리: 주윤발 분)의 집에 머무른다. 선장(뱃머리)은 연약한 제니퍼를 보자 보호본능이 생기고 점차 한 여인으로 보게 된다. 빈센트에게 실연당한 제니퍼는 선장(뱃머리)의 위로와 다정함으로 점차 사랑의 상처를 잊게 된다. 선장(뱃머리)이 자신을 사랑하고 있음을 느낀 제니퍼는 자신의 감정은 단순한 우정이라고 여긴다. 어느 날, 선장(뱃머리)은 자신의 생일 파티를 열고 제니퍼와 친구들을 초대한다. 빈센트는 파티장에 찾아와서 제니퍼에게 다시 연인이 되자고 간청한다. 다정한 두 사람의 모습을 보고 선장(뱃머리)은 질투심이 끓어오른다.
