과테말라 슬럼가에 사는 후안, 사라, 사무엘은 보다 나은 삶을 찾아 미국행 화물열차에 몸을 싣는다. 이들 십대는 중간 지점인 멕시코에서 치아파스 출신의 인디언 차욱을 만난다. 자신의 여친인 사라에게 관심을 보이는 차욱에게 후안이 적개심을 표출하는 와중에도 넷은 일행이 되어 이동한다. 약속의 땅 미국으로 향하는 그들의 여정은 곧 부패한 경찰과 무자비한 강도들, 지독한 국경순찰원들의 폭력으로 물든다.

Ah-gau (Keung Chung-ping) leaves his wife Sou Jing, and son in Macau for Nanyang to join his cousin (Patrick Tse Yin) in search of employment.
